I had been handed something in life I had never imagined possible, a beautiful child and a man who was my best friend and my lover. A man who made me laugh each and every day without fail. A man who had placed his nephew and me at the center of his world. A man who gave with everything he had and asked for nothing in return.
As my life had come full circle, I had learned this important lesson: The past does not define us. Live in the present because it too will fade, and if we’re fortunate enough, it will set shape for a beautiful future that could never be foretold.
“Thank you, Kate,” I whispered as I looked up at the sky. She may have been on the other side of the rainbow, but she had trusted me enough to leave me with the pot of gold.

I hope you enjoyed the journey this book took you on and all of the people you’ve met along the way while reading it. I got the idea for this story a while ago, but it didn’t take full shape until after the vacation I took last year (the same one Jillian went on). I met some pretty awesome people in my group. Some who made a little cameo appearance during Jillian’s meet and greet dinner (Chris and Mary and Jean and Bob). Also, Nino who was the best tour guide ever! That trip will always hold a special place in my heart. It was a once in a lifetime trip with my son, and the places I visited were absolutely magical. The people I met in my group made it even more enjoyable. For ten days we became a little family. I often think back now…what if I was with a different group? Would it have been as much fun? Would the memories be just as great? Those are answers I’ll never know. But what I do know is, the memories we make consist of the places we go, the sites we see…and without a doubt, the people we meet along the way.
