sting as they dilate and expand to the width of my eyes.

It was a shifter, in its form as a wolf. Its foot slams the door shut as soon as it enters. It was male, I could tell from the smell of it. Males had a musk, meant to seduce its prey. To beat it into submission. Being a hunter, I knew its tricks. The serum they darted me with every day, had slowed my reaction time. I was no match for a wolf or any other supernatural, and he knew it.

The wolf faces me and maintains eye contact as it moves closer, “Cool party trick.” He mocks.

I had nowhere to go, except a foot on either side of me. It was easy to determine that he had the upper hand. A smirk forms on his lips and his eyes squint as he moves another step closer.

I grab the only thing close to me, a desk lamp on the table. I hold it high above my head and bare my teeth at him.

A low rumble under his breath turns into laughter, and his left paw swipes my weapon away from me. “Really?” His eyes narrow as he takes all of me in. His nostrils widen as he inhales my aroma.

I tilt my head to the right and roll my eyes. Maybe I had been ambitious or dumb, but at least I tried. “What do you want?”

“It’s not what I want,” He backs off and morphs into his human form in front of me, buck naked. A daring move had I not been drugged. He was handsome and well built, even for a wolf. His chin was square, and his long black locks fell to his ears. His head shaved on the sides. He grabs my elastic band from the desk and brings his hair back to a ponytail.

I glance away, not wanting to give away my attraction toward him. I’m sure I was too late. “That’s not bright.” I lean back and hoist myself to a seating position on the table, as graceful as I can, still being chained. I lean over and grab my sheet and throw it to him. The wolf makes no attempt to grab it and it falls to the ground in front of him.

He cocks his head to the side, and the corners of his lips rise as he takes a few steps closer to me.

I try my best to keep my gaze above his neckline, but he is quite a specimen. My breath quickens as my eyes fall to his chest... and then lower. I fight off the flame rising to my cheeks as I question what it would be like to be with a wolf. A fantasy I’ve always had, even as I hunted them. Their power and seduction a curiosity.

“You’re not going to ask me any questions?” He grins, as his dark eyes focus on my lips.

“Why don’t you put some clothes on?” I smirk, and lock my eyes on his. Forcing myself to keep my eyes on a more appropriate part of his body was more challenging than it sounds. I had to remind myself I was being held captive.

“If you wish.” He leans over and picks up the sheet, tying it around his waist. “This better?” His smile made me want to smile, but my face remained blank, as this was a game.

“Where do they keep taking that girl every night?”  And when will it be me? I wanted to add.

“That’s no worry for you. They have other plans where you are concerned.” He smiles as if that should satisfy me.

“What are they doing to her?” I narrow my eyes, the only thing I could think to do to let him know we weren’t going to be friends.

“Why do you care?” He moves closer again. His hips bang up against my knees.

I lean back on the cold wall, “It’s hard not to wonder when she wakes me every night.”

He stands there, watching me. His eyes ravish me as they drift from my nose to my neck, then to my chest. His musk grows stronger, and his eyes more intense. There’s no longer a smile on his face. “You are a curious being.” He states.

“You would know more than I.” The words struggle to come out. He clearly has an effect on me.

His head twitches to the side for a moment involuntarily, and he backs away without saying a word. He stretches to mask the weakness. I want to ask him if he’s okay but hold back. I shouldn’t care. He is one of whoever is holding me here.

“Why is that?” He lifts his head up to me as he sits on the bed.

“Is this a therapy session?” I jump from the desk, a little gutsier since there is clearly something wrong with this wolf. They mustn’t think I’m too much of a threat to have sent him in here - unless they didn’t.

“It could be.” He leans back on my bed, and the sheet tied to his waist falls off to the side. He makes no attempt to correct it.

I turn away, having caught myself from looking him over again. “Not interested.” I walk toward the window, as far as I can in these chains, and focus my attention on the old gnarly tree next to what looks to be the entrance to this place. I should be afraid to turn my back to him, but I’m not. I‘d hunted wolves for years, and when they were ready to attack, their body odor changed. This wolf was closer to fucking me than killing me.

“Then, what interests you?” His wet breath against my ear made my body tense. Goosebumps swelled on my arms. Fear set in that I hadn’t felt him move closer to me.

Whatever they had given me, was working. I was off my game. I stood still as I listen to him smell my hair. His scent overwhelms me, and I could swear I’d faint at any moment if he didn’t step back
