original A is destroyed, but a new A exists in a new location. In a sense, A has traveled from one location to another without physically moving through the space in between.

Does that mean that people will one day be able to teleport? Figuring out how to do it wouldn’t be easy. After all, the human body is made up of trillions of atoms. Scientists would need to come up with a good way to measure and send all that information.

And that’s not the only challenge. What about a person’s memories, personality, likes and dislikes? Scientists would need to come up with a way to send that information, too.

There’s another big question scientists wonder about: If during teleportation, original atoms are destroyed and an exact copy is created, does that mean if you teleported, you’d become a clone of yourself? Would you still be you?

There are a lot of questions still to be answered in the science of teleportation. But one thing is clear. There will be lots of opportunities in the years ahead for new scientists to join in.
