I can’t wait to eat.”

The doorbell rang. She pounced. “Hi, Amanda; Kyle. So good to see you both.” She hugged Amanda, and kissed Kyle on the cheek. “Come on in. Are you hungry?”

Amanda sniffed the air. “Boy does that food smell good. I’m starved.”

“Sure does,” Kyle agreed.

“Well, come in, and let’s eat.”

The lambs sat down, ready to be fattened for the slaughter. Dinner over, the caterer came and took their plates, and cleared the table.

“Let’s all retire to the living room, shall we?” she suggested. Once in the living room, she sat on the far end of the couch, motioning Kyle to come sit next to her. Roger sat in the armchair next to the couch. “Why don’t you sit next to Roger, Amanda? That way, you two can get to know each other better.”

The conversations soon settled into one between her and Kyle, and Amanda and Roger. She stole a glance at Roger, who discreetly shot one back at her. “Good,” she thought. “I see he’s exuding his charm. And she seems to be caught up in it.”

She turned her attention back to Kyle. Discreetly, she inched closer to Kyle until her thigh rubbed against his. Out of Amanda’s view, she placed her hand on his leg. Her face came as close to his as possible. When Kyle looked away, she noticed she had gotten a reaction out of him. Summoning all her strength, she resisted the urge to take him into a bedroom, and have her way with him.

It didn’t escape her notice that he rarely mentioned his wife. “You know, I’ve really enjoyed our conversation.” She lowered her voice enough to escape Amanda’s hearing. “We should talk some more, say, over lunch. I have a feeling I could be a sympathetic ear, especially about your situation on the home front. Why don’t we meet for lunch this week, say on Tuesday?”

He looked at his wife, and then back at her. “Yeah. Why not?”

“How about at the Indian Palace —‘bout one o’clock?”

“Sounds great. I’ve been there before; great food and nice ambience.”

“Good. It’s settled then.”

The evening ended. She had gotten Kyle to meet her alone, and by the looks of it, Amanda had hit it off famously with Roger. A discreet look in his direction, followed by a smile got her a wink in return.

“Excuse me. I need to use the ladies room before I leave.” Amanda excused herself.

Poisonous pounced on the opportunity. “Kyle, may I say something?”

“Sure.”

She walked up to him, and kissed him on the lips. As if on cue, Amanda came back into the living room before he could protest. Roger, ever the gentleman, walked Amanda to the door, her hand in his arm.

She hugged Kyle, held his hands and kissed him chastely on the cheek. “It was very nice having you two…um, over.” She walked over to Amanda, gave her a kiss on the cheek, and hugged her. “I enjoyed it, Amanda. We’ll have to get together again.”

“That would be nice.”

Satisfied with the job she had done, she waved as Amanda and Kyle walked down the hall towards the elevator, neither touching nor speaking to each other.

  Tuesday, August 12th

The metro train pulled up the stop, while the automated message droned over the loudspeaker. “Farragut West; doors opening on the right.”

Poisonous got up, exited the train and headed towards the ladies’ room. She walked to the mirror, and looked herself over. More of her body was exposed than was covered. Not much was left to the imagination. “Yes. That’s just the look I want.”

The stairs led her to the “I” street exit, where she walked east toward Connecticut Avenue. The lewd stares coming from the men on the street fueled her desire. She reached Connecticut Avenue, turned left and walked into the white building with ‘815’ over the entrance.

The darkness made her small pupils dilate. He sat in the booth in the back on the left. Her body parts bounced suggestively as she walked, then sat down in the booth across from him.

“Mm. I love the spicy aroma that hangs in the air, don’t you.”

Kyle’s eyes scanned her body. “Yeah. I must admit—this is a very spicy atmosphere.”

Kyle had chosen a circular booth, so she scooted next to him, making sure her skin touched as much of him as possible.

“So tell me what’s going on,” she cooed.

“You pretty much know the deal: Amanda and I are on the outs. We don’t really talk much anymore. I’m getting kind of antsy. There’s no fun in our marriage: she’s getting all serious about settling down. I’m just not ready for that.”

Her lips parted just a crack, and her hands held his. “I’d say do what you feel you should. You only live once, right?”

“Yeah. That’s right.”

“Well, then. Why don’t you begin to live now? Why wait?”

A moment passed. He moved in towards her and zeroed in on her lips.

She put her arms around his neck, and pulled him closer, making sure he rubbed up against her. They kissed for several moments, the heat in her belly intensifying.

“Hey, folks: are we ready to order?”

She looked up in a daze, feeling the fire quickly dying. “Oh. Y-yes; certainly. His hand was firmly in hers, and she wouldn’t let go. Once their meals arrived, they ate quietly, while their hands wandered underneath the table.

The server cleared away their dishes and left the check. “Whenever you’re ready, I’ll take the check.

Kyle swallowed hard. “Here, I’ll give it to you before you go.”

She forced herself to cool down, and let Kyle do the same.

“So, would you like to get together again?”

Kyle was quiet for a moment. “Why don’t we meet at my place; tomorrow at the same time?”

“I’d like that. I’ll bring something spicy for
