. “What do you like to do for fun? I sure hope you’re not one of those people who likes card games or board games, or considers going bowling a hot night on the town,” she said,  eyebrows creased, and eyes filled with  disdain.

He laughed. “Oh no. I go for more stimulating things than that. I’m a people person, and I like getting close to people; especially with hot girls like you.”

“You consider me hot, do you?”

“Oh yes.”

Pressing against him more, she said, “So what are you going to do about it? I hope you’re not going to say that we should watch a movie and eat popcorn.”

His grin confirmed he was indeed the charmer that she  had been working on for many years. “You seem to like your encounters hot and spicy, am I right?”

Smiling with thinly veiled suggestion, she said, “Of course. Are you in the mood for a hot and spicy encounter?”

His lips gave her the answer, as they moved in on and slowly kissed hers: gently at first, then with more passion. She returned the favor, and shortly thereafter, they moved to a more private location.

“You know,” she said later, “I’ve heard rumors about you, and you just proved them to be true.”

“I hope I’ve lived up to your expectations,” he said, turning on his charm, and flashing a thousand watt smile.”

“Oh, you —” Before she could get out another word, he took her head in his hands, pulled her close, and again kissed her with increasing passion. She succumbed, and gave in to his advances again.

“You are going to wear me out, Shane Logan. I’m spent; I don’t think I could do this again. At least not right away.”

“No problem. And since you may want more spicy encounters, why don’t you spend the night? That way, we can play it by ear.”

“I’m all for that. I think I’m addicted to you.” She pulled him closer this time, and the heat rose in her again.

“I thought you said you were spent,” he said, grinning.

“Oh shut up…”

The next morning, awake before her guest, a shower called her. The hot, steamy water fell down on her, easing the tension out of every muscle in her human body. Luxuriating in the pleasure of a watery massage, she just let the water continue to make her feel good. A tall, handsome man, with incredibly blue eyes opened the shower door and said, “May I join you?”

“I thought you’d never ask…”

Later, the comfortable couch held her captive for the rest of the morning. Shane made some breakfast for her, and brought it to her on the couch. Their conversation, surprisingly to her, was about more than hunting for the conquest, and she actually enjoyed it. As time passed, she felt the pressure of having some demon of Murder finding her, and making an end of her. The clock on Shane’s living room wall told her it was shortly after noon. “Shane, sweetie. I’ve really got to go. It’s been wonderful, but I have some pressing matters to attend to.”

“No problem. Come back any time.”

“I’m going to hold you to that.”

“Please do.”

Poisonous left the way she came, returning to the Friendship Heights Metro station and ducking into a stall in the women’s bathroom. Once again, the demon Poisonous returned. As she flew back to the Second Heavens, a strange sensation bloomed in her heart. At first, she thought is was a hangover from all the alcohol she had drunk. Then a lump formed in her throat. She almost cried happy tears. The very thought of Shane Logan made her smile and feel giddy, like something wonderful had happened to her. In fact, she smiled all the way back to her cave. “What is wrong with me? I can’t seem to get Shane out of my mind. I miss him already, and I just left.”

On the path to her cave, she ran into VD. “Hi, Poisonous.” Then VD scrutinized her as though she had just become an angel of the Light. “Poisonous: you’re smiling. I thought you considered that a sign of weakness.”

“I did…err, do,” she said, trying to act evil again.

VD, however, just smiled and said, “Uh-huh…you, Poisonous are in love, you silly demon. Moreover, I have a strong feeling it’s with Shane Logan, they guy you’ve always made a habit of returning to.”

“I am not in love. Don’t be foolish; that’s not what demons do: Shane Logan is just one of my victims—”

“That you just spent the night with, I’m sure, and for once, you actually enjoyed making love, and not merely having sex motivated by lust. No…you don’t need any practice to do that. But by that happy look on your face, I think you can’t get Shane off your mind.” VD giggled softly. “My, my…the evil demon is in love. Awww, how sweet.”

Perturbed, Poisonous shot an angry look at VD. “Look you foolish softie. I don’t buy into this infatuation humans call, ‘being in love.’ You and both know that demons don’t love. They pervert that notion. So, stop your ridiculous accusations, and leave me alone, or I swear I’ll tear you to shreds.”

VD kept smiling, eyes twinkling. “Mmm-hmm.” Then she turned around and walked away, giggling under her breath.

With anger written all over her face, Poisonous watched VD leave, then looked at the ground, feeling somewhat foolish. “I think she’s right…”

 Sunday, June 29th

Her mind settled on the fact that the time had come to break out of the Second Heavens unnoticed, and head to Earth. Looking around the Second Heavens, no demons appeared. The day on Earth was Sunday, so she said, “Most of them must be in their caves, avoiding the strength of The Light as followers of the Light worship Lord Yehovah.” Stepping out of her cave, and looking over the
