‘You were beingmagnificent beyond my dreams My Lord. You are being my first andonly hero. You have been showing me the strength of all the men inthe tribe and the endurance of a bull dancer. I am willinglyawaiting our next pleasures together. When your first favourite isfailing to please you or is not here I will be waiting for you andtaking your breaths away.’
‘Umm. Thank youShastritara. Can you send Kami to see me?’
‘Yes. My Lord.Your wishes are being my pleasures.’ and she left.
‘Oh, by thePowers I’ve been ambushed. If Miranda finds out about this she’llkill Shastritara then come looking for me.’ he thought.
His thoughtsverged on panic for several minutes until Kami arrived.
‘Hello SpiritLord have you been enjoying your dreaming?’ said Kami with agrin.
‘You set me upKami. You knew about this. I trusted you as a friend.’
‘I am stillbeing your friend Spirit Lord. You are wanting to be knowingsecrets of our lore and I am not being able to be telling youanything, as you are not one of the Jeti peoples. If you were to bemaking eggs with one of our females then the Elders might bethinking that they should be making you a member of the Jetipeoples. Then you can be hearing our lore.’
‘You’ll getboth Shastritara and me killed if Miranda finds out what happenedlast night let alone what you are suggesting.’
‘What I amsuggesting is being news for the Jeti people’s ears only. It is agenuine rule that the first favourite is never being told what thesecond favourite and the warrior is doing. No one is seeing and noone is talking.’
‘You told meyesterday that your people only make eggs for one week eachyear.’
‘That is beingtrue. The females they can only be making eggs for one week eachyear and there is much pleasuring then. But they are also knowingsecret female’s lore to be making their favoured ones be havinggreat pleasures at other special times as well.’
‘So you want meto be here in a month’s time and make eggs with Shastritara inexchange for knowledge of your lore.’
‘That is beingtruly correct.’ said Kami.
‘What aboutShastritara? Is she willingly a part of this scheme?’
‘She has agenuine liking for you and a destiny all her own. She only wishesto be pleasuring you so much that you will be making her your firstfavourite.’
‘Tell me abouther destiny.’ asked Aquitain wondering what destiny could possiblyhave to do with this situation.
‘She is veryspecial and very dangerous. She is being the only survivingdaughter of the salamander tribe and excellent at making thepotions. They were being red skins and very proud and would not bebowing down to the druids like the rest of us. Her mother wasgiving her to me as an egg before her mother was dying at the handsof the druids. She has always been saying that she was savingherself for the greatest of heroes and you are being thathero.’
‘She is thelast of the Reds?’
‘Yes SpiritLord she is being the very last of the Salamander tribe. We havebeen protecting her hoping that she would be accepting one of ourown warriors as a favourite but she has been refusing. She will beaccepting none but the greatest hero and that is being you.’
‘But I am notone of your blood. I am a spider; a shape changer. We cannotproduce any little people eggs. She is doomed to failure.’
‘Perhaps andperhaps not Spirit Lord but she has been telling me that there isfemale’s lore that is suggesting that maybe you can. Have you putmuch considering into why The Lady has been making your body likeours? I am greatly betting that She is doing things with somepurpose being in Her thinking. Perhaps in Her wisdom She is wantingyou to be saving the Salamander tribe by making eggs withShastritara?’
Aquitainchanted a calming mantra. He had to think rationally. What werethey up to? They knew he was interested in their lore. They weretrying to make him an offer he would find hard to resist. He wasbusting to find out what they knew about the Great Storm and theFounts of Wisdom.
Maybe they evenknew where the Founts were. Is this why Alpha didn’t want him tofall for Miranda? Did his father and Granddad know that somethinglike this might happen? Were they in league with The Lady? Is thiswhy The Lady had put a chastity tattoo on his girlfriendMiranda?
If it wasn’tfor his feelings for Miranda he might be tempted at the offer ofmore of Shastritara’s pleasures. She certainly didn’t hold back.Why didn’t Miranda return last night? Perhaps she had returned andthey told her he had left. There were too many unanswered questionsfor him to agree with Kami’s proposal. Fortunately he had a fewweeks to find out more before he would have to decide.
Another problemwas that there was no guarantee that they knew what he wanted toknow. He could agree to their proposal, discover nothing useful andhave Miranda never talking to him again. Both the rewards and therisks were huge. Somehow he had to hedge his bets. He thought aboutit for a minute or two then came up with a solution.
‘I willcarefully consider your proposal Kami and give you my decision in acouple of weeks. However, if I were to agree I would wish to haveShastritara in a more important position in the tribe. I would wanther to be an assistant shaman and have her taught the lore of theshaman so that someday she might be shaman.’
‘Ah! By myancestors you are driving a difficult bargain Spirit Lord. I amdoubting that the elders will be agreeing but I will be puttingyour suggestions to them. We have not been having a female shamansince before the Great Storm. It will be causing me bigproblems.’
As Kami openedthe door and left in a hurry to see the Chief, Aquitain noticedthat Shastritara had been kneeling just outside the door and wouldhave heard everything that he had said to Kami so
