And win he did. Big. Her fingernails bit into his back as the first shudder rolled through her. If he wasn’t mistaken, the last gasp sounded a lot like his name. And then she screamed. Not long or loud. Barely more than a yelp, really, but Ty couldn’t hold back. Those slippery, sweet walls clamped tightly around him, and the next thing he knew, he was coming again. This time, his climax was far more feeling than force, but Ty couldn’t give less of a damn if he tried.
She owed him ten bucks.
Chapter 12
Millie was exhausted, and not because she’d spent the night being worked over by her lusty new lover. No. For the first time in her life, she had gone and fallen into bed with a man of his word. The minute their breathing slowed, Ty had rolled off the edge of the mattress and began stalking around the room, moving with the lithe grace of a panther. He’d gathered her discarded clothing and placed the pile on the end of the bed before disappearing into the attached bath.
He’d returned as promised, plucked up the jeans she’d peeled him out of earlier that evening, and thrust his long legs into the tangled denim. “Come on. I’ll take you home.”
But it didn’t matter if she slept in her own bed or not; the man was responsible for the dark circles under her eyes. She’d tossed and turned all night. Thoughts of Ty and their romp in bed chased her through her morning run. She’d even dressed for him. Slim cigarette pants and a crisp, white shirt. She’d slicked her mouth with her favorite lipstick, Rapscallion Red, and then left her house, determined to make him pay for her lack of sleep.
Thirty minutes later, she breezed through the door of the Warrior Center with her tote swinging from the crook of her elbow and enough swagger to do a sailor proud. She nodded to a couple of students hauling massive equipment duffels, floated a flirty smile at one of Danny’s assistant coaches as he wandered past with his phone pressed to his ear, and waved to the athletics editor of the Warrior Weekly. Without breaking stride, she hooked a sharp right into Kate’s office.
“I’m thinking we should hit the mall tonight,” she announced. “I have need for new lingerie.”
“I’m sorry, think I have a colonic scheduled this evening,” Kate replied without missing a beat.
Millie stopped short when she spotted the hot hunk of man sprawled in the guest chair across from her best friend. The tablet perched on Ty’s knee was dark and smudged with fingerprints. He craned his neck to look back at her. The smile he wore stretched from ear to ear. “Hey, Millie.”
Not one to back down from anyone or anything, she leveled a blank stare on him. “Hello, lover.”
Kate choked on a laugh. Slapping a hand to her chest, she threw her head back and let loose. “Wow. Okay, well, I guess I don’t have to ask what you kids did last night.”
“We played Monopoly.” Millie strolled the rest of the way into the office, hoping they couldn’t hear the thudding of her heart. “I bankrupted him with my hotels.” She smirked at Ty. “Are you in here begging for a little lunch money? Our Katie isn’t just a winner. She’s carrying cash around in those bags with the dollar signs now.”
Ty inclined his head, acknowledging the hit. “I’ve got lunch covered, thanks.” He picked up the tablet and rose to his full height, inch by spectacular inch. “I was dropping off a jersey for the Kids Kare auction, but I’d be happy to make a donation to the lingerie fund if you’re accepting contributions.”
She cocked an eyebrow. “Maybe you’d like to go with me?”
Ty chuckled. “Well, luckily, I do not have an enema scheduled, but I do have a practice to run.” He lifted a hand in farewell to Kate, then sidled past Millie. “But if you’re looking for input, I like the pretty, lacy things more than the hooker stuff.”
“Hooker stuff?” Kate and Millie asked in unison.
Ty shrugged and started toward the door, unfazed by their questioning. “If you see something you think my ex-wife would have picked out, you’ll know what I mean.”
He took off before either of them could respond.
Millie watched until he disappeared, then swallowed a sigh as she leveled a pointed look at Kate. “Sadly, I know exactly what he means.”
Kate nodded. “I do too.” Her smile shone a shade too eager as she said, “Take a seat.”
Shaking her head, Millie hiked her tote a little higher on her arm. “I really need to get—”
“Take a seat.” This time, Kate used her coach voice, and as if her good friend held a set of marionette strings, Millie found herself moving toward the chair Ty had vacated. “Avery had a lecture first thing this morning, so I promised her I’d get the scoop and report back while she’s doing office hours.”
Affixing her patented camera-neutral expression, Millie let her bag drop to the floor beside her feet. “No big scoop. We had sex.” She treated her inquisitor to a lopsided smirk. “Bet you girls didn’t see that coming.”
“Only thing that might have made the scene better would have been Ty in dress whites carrying you out of the bar.”
Millie’s heart fluttered as she recalled exactly how giddy she’d been as she slipped her hand into his and hopped down off her bar stool. Determined to get a grip on herself and the spin, she rolled her eyes. “Let’s not over-romanticize this.”
“Looked pretty damn romanticized all on its own.”
“The ink isn’t even set on those divorce papers. The man wants a fling. I love being flung.” The pro that she was, she brushed the most intense sex of her life aside with a flick of her hand. “I’m hoping he’ll fling me again. Soon.”
“I think you can bet on it.”
“But it’s nothing more,” Millie
