discovered during construction of T.O. Fuller State Park. The park, the museum, and the mound complex are all excellent reasons to visit south Memphis. Just don’t expect to find Faye there.
I often change the names of state parks and museums in my books in this way, because I don’t want to suggest that the real places are prone to murder and mayhem, but I made an exception for Tom Lee Park. I felt that Lee’s heroism in saving thirty-one survivors of a capsized steamboat deserved commemoration.
I also could not resist letting Faye and Kali enjoy the very real Peabody Hotel and its iconic ducks. While researching Undercurrents, I made it a point to dine at The Peabody myself, so that I could properly portray their visit.
