“Shh, baby. It’s going to be all right.” He tried to calm her fears. Fears that were coursing through him like a damn tornado hurtling out of control toward him and he had no fucking control over it.
Tilly lifted her head, her eyes alight with relief. “I can see the head! Sheba! I can see the head. You have got to push girl. You can’t give up now. Please, sweetie, we need to get this baby out of you.”
Fox leaned down, his heart stampeding in his chest and his throat closing so he couldn’t draw a breath. A bloody mop of hair was barely visible between his love’s legs, bringing a ray of hope to blossom in his chest. “Sheba! Come on, baby, we can do this!”
“We!” she shouted. “We can do this? Yeah, right!”
“Less talking, more pushing,” Tilly snapped. “Fox, get behind her and hoist her up a bit. Support her as much as you can.”
Fox did as he was told and Sheba went to work, even though he knew she was on her last legs. “Damn, I love you,” he whispered against her ear.
Tilly bit her lip as she worked between Sheba’s thighs, his mate making grunting noises as she toiled to deliver their daughter. Long minutes passing until finally with some very strange noises, Tilly whooped as she slid their first-born child free.
“At last, little one! Do you know the trouble you’ve caused your momma?”
Tilly checked over their child before wrapping her in a shawl, and handing her to Sheba. “I think this one is just like you, Sheba. A Wolf through and through and a beautiful one at that. She even has your eyes.”
Fox looked down at the most perfect picture. Sheba holding their daughter who wriggled in her arms, tiny hands breaking free of the shawl so he reached over with a finger, and she grabbed hold of it with a tight grip as tears ran down Sheba’s cheeks.
“She’s gorgeous, Sheba.” He couldn’t hold his emotions in check as he gazed at his child and the woman he loved with all his heart.
“I know,” Sheba replied looking up over her shoulder smiling for a brief second then she screwed her face up. “Shit! What the hell, Tilly! What’s going on?”
Tilly looked up at them. “What?”
“I need to push again. Shit! The pain, what the fuck?”
Tilly frowned. “I was just about to get rid of the afterbirth. Hold on.”
A few seconds later Tilly shook her head. “How did we miss this? Sheba, you’ve got another baby in there. You need to push again. Alisha! Get in here and take this baby away.”
Alisha rushed in, eyes wide. “What’s going on?”
“Twins.” Tilly shook her head again. “Don’t know how we missed it, unless it’s to do with Fox being a Lion. Anyway. Can you take your granddaughter for now so we can deal with this?”
Alisha gushed as she carefully took the newborn. “Oh my goodness, aren’t you just the cutest thing ever.”
“All right, Sheba, you know the drill . . . push.”
Hell. There was that word again. Fox ground his teeth as his mate groaned and he knew she was spent. He pulled every ounce of his own power and pushed it into her through their link, her eyes searching for his and her mouth opening in a silent, “Thank you.”
She let out a long roar as she pushed, again and again as Tilly shouted encouragement. Long minutes dragged by until finally the Healer screamed in triumph, holding up a second small bundle.
“A son! You have a son! And this one is most definitely not a Wolf. This is a Lion! You have a Lion, Fox!”
He looked at the scrawny babe in Tilly’s arms, and if he had any strength left, he would’ve yelled with pure joy, but he too was now spent. He’d used every last ounce of energy to help his mate and he could barely hold his head up. He managed a smile as his son opened his mouth and mewled for the first time. Sheba opened her arms as Tilly placed him against her chest, his mouth searching for her breast.
“You’re a hungry boy.” Sheba smiled, her eyes glazing over as exhaustion took hold, her body relaxing against him.
“Typical Lion,” he mumbled against her hair as he leaned back, his eyes drooping as he too fell into darkness.
Sheba moaned loudly as Fox brought her to a cataclysmic orgasm . . . again. Shit, the man was a miracle worker. How could he do that? Multiple times, over and over again. With barely a touch he could work his magic on her body and she could never get enough of him.
Was she addicted to him? A junkie? Yeah, that was it. She was a damn junkie and Fox was her drug. She hoped nobody tried to do an intervention because she’d fight them tooth and claw if anyone ever did.
She started to giggle as he slid off her, pulling her over to lie on top of him. “What’s so funny?”
“Nothing really.” She managed to get her laughter under control. “I was just thinking about how easily you can get me to . . . you know . . . come.”
“I see.” Fox’s eyes glittered with mischief that caused his brilliantly blue eyes to twinkle. “I’m not finished . . . yet. We still have a couple of hours until the terrors are back.”
“Hey, they are not terrors. Those are our children you’re talking about. The light of our lives who we adore with all our hearts!” Sheba tugged at his hair.
“I know, but it’s nice to have some time completely alone. Isn’t it?” Fox’s fingers found a nipple and rolled it around, sending jolts of pleasure through her . . . again.
“Mmm,
