The rules should have been easy. Start my freshman year and put to good use that college tuition my mom and stepdad broke their backs for. It should be simple really. Cake, but the rules changed.

I break the first one and Knight Reed appears in my life again. He’s all sin, sex on legs and something others definitely see outside of me. I haven’t seen him in over ten years, the time he ruined my life and got my mom fired from his family’s estate. He’s my own personal nightmare and that was well before I saw him at a campus party my first semester of undergrad.

Fast forward to breaking the second rule, which leaves me tackled on a bed with his hand around my throat. He tells me to forget what I definitely saw, him and another guy with a gun between them. He tells me to forget or it will be bad for me.

Which leads me to the third rule.

Knight seems not only determined to make me pay for what I’ve seen but break me. He uses scare tactics and even my body against me, but I won’t be broken easily. He’s not the only one with the mind games and I see him for what his is, a devil heir who’s nothing but brutal. I refuse to worship a false god.
