the last of his orgasm as he emptied himself inside her. There, in her arms, was a mighty vampire in all his glory, drunk on pleasure and sensuality, and ready to die for it.

Something tickled her neck, probably the wound he hadn’t had time to close when he came. Her head felt light, like it had been filled with helium as the last tremors of satisfaction coursed over her body.

When Finn’s body finally relaxed, his face softened as he looked at her and gave her the sweetest, the most tender kiss she’d ever experienced.

Filled by his thick cock and satiated, Violet didn’t want to move when the vampire abandoned her lips to lick the blood that trickled down to her breasts, finally closing the pinpricks on her neck.

The world started to spin, but she didn’t care. She was in paradise and fought against letting it go.

It was Finn’s deep voice, one she’d never heard before, that of a lover using his glamour, forcing her to let go.

“Sleep, my Violet. You’re safe with me.”

Chapter 8

Finn knew Violet wouldn’t like that he’d glamoured her again, but she needed the rest. And he needed to get his thoughts in order. Despite his best intentions and his promise to protect her, he’d allowed her to sidetrack him, big time.

If he’d been in control, it wouldn’t have happened, but when he woke to her hands on him, her scent already filling his lungs, his logical mind vaporized.

For years, he’d been at war with himself over the witch, she affected him like nobody else. He’d had countless lovers in his existence, some he’d cared about more than others, some he’d discarded without regret. None had held his interest more than a few months, and he didn’t remember most of their faces or names.

Even with the High Council’s interdiction, he’d dabbled in the supernatural community with fascination or regret, but nothing had stirred his hunger or interest like Violet Shaughnessy.

He’d fantasized about having her, but even his imagination couldn’t come close to how it felt. Being in her body erased everyone before her.

His cock pulsed at the thought of taking her again, but he willed himself to step back. Lost inside her, Finn had taken too much blood for her current condition, and he noticed the effect it had on her. He’d also noticed a slightly different taste to her blood, which confirmed his suspicion the kidnapping and the curse had affected her more than she realized.

The sex had been rough, and once again, it had been his fault. When he pushed her into sleep once more and examined her body, he saw bruises on her pale skin, bruises he’d put there.

In atonement, he’d cleaned her and bundled her up on the sofa before stoking the fire.

An entire day had passed since the moment he’d first forced her to sleep. As a vampire, he could survive a while without nourishment. He should’ve been more careful of Violet and made her eat before she slept.

When he looked outside, he saw an overcast sky. The sun was still high at this time of day, but the angry swirls of the clouds forecast heavy rain was on the way.

Even if he couldn’t see them, Finn sensed the Sentinels patrolling the area. Wolves, panthers, and bears could hide well in the surrounding woods and prevent any intrusion.

He was about to check the cupboards so he could feed Violet once she woke when he detected two new beings in the area. He relaxed instantly when he recognized them.

With one last look at Violet, and satisfied she would sleep for a while, he grabbed his boots and coat and went outside.

The wind definitely carried the smell of the incoming downpour, swirling many scents together, human and inhuman. He saw Soren step out from the passenger side of a car followed by Hunter who’d been driving it.

The weredragon nodded and offered Finn his usual manly hug. Finn wasn’t surprised to see his nostrils flare and his brow drop.

“You can’t be serious, Finn?”

Hunter looked around, a hand on his service gun as if expecting the worst at Soren’s tone. “What?”

The rough man rubbed his face. “He slept with her. For heaven’s sake! You were supposed to care for her, not fuck her!”

Soren took a few steps back and Finn guessed he was probably trying to calm himself.

Hunter walked closer and eyed Finn with caution. “Must be a shifter’s talent to be able to smell such a thing.”

Finn’s mouth quirked a little. “And a vampire’s … uncanny sense of smell… can cause problems, as you can see.”

Soren turned and marched to him, his finger pointed in his direction. “Smell isn’t what’s causing problems. You not able to keep it in your pants is. Damn it, O’Malley! You know I’m part of the High Council, and you’re walking a fine line. Two magical species cannot…”

Finn raised his hands. “I know. I’m older than you, Soren. I know the laws better than you ever will.”

“You may be older in years, but not in commonsense.”

“You two haven’t come over here to tell me things I already know.”

Soren emitted such a low growl Finn almost thought his dragon would appear.

Hunter shook his head and stepped in. “How is Violet? The girls are worried and didn’t want to call and disturb her.”

Finn nodded. “She’s sleeping. It took a while for her to warm up enough to be able sleep, then it took some convincing to actually get her to sleep.”

Hunter looked dubious but let go of any questions he might’ve had. “Just so you know, I’ve advised everyone in my department to keep a look out around Violet’s house, just in case. Extra pairs of eyes, even if they’re human, can’t hurt.”

Soren looked around for a moment, most probably getting a grip on his temper. “You’re lucky we have more important matters to discuss, but don’t think you and I won’t have a chat later on.”

Finn rolled his eyes, knowing it would annoy his friend, and decided to focus on
