The other demon reached into the car and pulled Anna out by her hair. Releasing an evil cackle, he looked at Shayne in victory, as he held her against his dark body. Anna screamed and fought, but she was no match for the superhuman strength the evil creature had.
With one powerful jump, it shot straight into the sky. “Shayne,” Anna screamed hysterically, as he watched in helpless horror. With each flap of its powerful wings, it carried her further away from him and into the dark of the night.
Her screams faded, as Shayne watched the only woman who had ever mattered to him disappear.
Chapter 11
ANNA WOKE UP, CHOKING on the cold water that had been thrown in her face. “You stupid bitch, get up,” a man's voice said. She was slapped roughly across her face, as she struggled to make sense of her surroundings.
The pain in her left eye was beyond bearable, and it was swollen shut. She was tied to a chair and naked underneath the dress she was wearing, her panties left in the limousine. Thankfully, they hadn't seemed to notice. The happiness she had experienced seemed like a lifetime ago, as she tried to free herself. It was no use. They well and truly had her.
Opening her good eye, Anna immediately squinted against the bright lights above her. Beyond the lights, the surrounding area was pitch black, and it eerily reminded her of the night she’d seen Suzi in the basement. She was in an extremely large room, so big it had a cavernous feel to it. It was also very cold and damp, the chill seeping into her body from the metal chair she was tied to.
Jesse stood in front of her, his handsome face red with anger. “You bitch, you’ve been more trouble than you’re worth,” he said, raising his fist and shaking it at her.
Anna gave him a cold stare, as she gathered her thoughts. It was hard to believe she’d ever found the weak bastard attractive. His skin was pale and clammy, with sweat running down his forehead. He couldn’t hold a candle to Shayne. It was like comparing night to day.
“Then why do you bother?” she asked, her voice thick with disgust.
“Don't worry, it all ends tonight,” he replied, glaring at her in hatred. “After spending the last several years in Hell, even you have started to look good. You've cost me a lot, Anna. Now, you're going to pay.”
“Enough,” an icy voice said, from the darkness. Anna couldn’t see the speaker, but his voice chilled her to the bone. It was the voice of pure evil. “There will be time for you to unleash your violence later. You wouldn’t want to damage the tool too soon, now would you?” he added and then laughed. The sound left fear zigzagging down her body.
A man came strolling out of the darkness and into the outside edge of the lights. She was surprised to see he appeared to be completely human. He stood about her height, with black hair and a thin, black mustache. He looked average until she looked into his cold, black eyes. They were ancient, chilling, and empty. They were the kind of eyes belonging to someone who wouldn't think twice about executing the worst kinds of torture, and God help her, he had her in his sights.
He grinned widely, his teeth normal. “Besides, we have entertainment planned. He met her eyes and lingered. “Would you like to see, Anna? As the tool, you’re our star attraction tonight.”
Anna turned her face away from him, refusing to answer. She wouldn't give him the satisfaction of engaging him. Inside she was praying, though, asking God to intervene and get her out of her horrible circumstances. Several years before, Anna had seen their type of entertainment. She knew nothing good awaited her.
Her silence angered him. “You fool,” he hissed, as he came closer to her. “It’s not like someone as repulsive as you would have ever gotten a better offer from any human male. All we want is the use of your body. But no, you want to be difficult. By the time we’re done with you, though, you’ll beg.” He gestured with one hand for Jesse to release her before grabbing her hair himself and forcing her face to his. “I promise you, you’ll beg.”
Releasing Anna roughly, he snapped his fingers and a row of lights against the wall came on. They were in a huge warehouse, empty except for the built-in cells. The cells were numerous, as if they were stacked on top of each other, running from level to level as far as her eyes could see. Instead of having metal doors, though, each cell was covered with a thick pane of glass. Whatever was in them wouldn’t bode well for her.
“Why are you doing this?” Anna finally asked, when she felt she could speak again. If she were to die, she wanted to know what she was dying for.
He laughed, the sound echoing throughout the room, while Jesse watched them silently. “Don't you know? Hell is moving to Earth and the fallen angel is taking his rightful place. We need a human we can control to make the process easier. Your whelp is going to prepare this world for the only master he will ever know.”
Her chin lifted. “I will never willingly submit to you or to this weak-willed bastard named Jesse; a man that had to sell his soul, just to get a hard on and a piece of ass.”
The last few years of her life had been spent living in fear, grief, and worthlessness. She wasn’t going to die that way as well. “The fallen angel you worship will never be the true God, no matter what you do. You're fighting a losing battle. There's only one God, and I've got news for you: he's already won this war.”
She would never allow a child
