I set down the phone and sigh.
For the past few days, I’ve tried to think about ways to rectify this situation—wondered if there is any way for my life to go back to normal. So far, the only solution is investing in some businessman’s promised time travel machine to try to take everything back.
Then again, according to the GoFundMe page, his time machine isn’t slated to be finished until the year 2200.
I’ll have to figure this out alone, and I’ll have to do some major self-reflection.
Just like in all the times when I’ve fucked up before, I pull out my notebook and try to write down what led to this very moment.
I separate the sheet into “Things that are My Fault” and “Things that are Her (and everyone else’s) Fault.” For the latter, the list of issues fills up quickly –so much so that I need a second and third page.
As for what’s my fault?
There’s only one thing: Being stupid enough to break all of my own rules.
No, wait. That’s not it.
It’s being stupid enough to fall for my best friend’s younger sister…
