New York had never been his favorite, but he’d have to stick around for this David.
“Yeah, I went as far as Archie’s, no sign of him. Gotta wait for him to come back, or maybe Rooney will find something. Yeah. No, they’re sleeping. I’m fine … Gimme ten minutes. Told you, I’m fine. Bye.” The big guy shoved the phone into his pocket, then took a swig from the bottle and grumbled to himself.
The man on the rooftop was done waiting, at last. He moved, creeping toward the pulsing power, its warmth, its taste. He’d have to be quick, weak as he was. Not his first time, though.
After all, he only needed but one touch.

About the author
Alexandra Engellmann is a self-published author and artist. At ten years old, she was allowed into the adult fantasy section of her local library, which might have scarred her for life. At twelve, she started learning English from Eminem’s songs, which did not please her teachers. At eighteen, she got the first glimpse of a story that later became the Sky Ghosts series. Ten years later, having quit a career in IT, she splits her time between writing, painting, and the gym, and dreams of escaping to the sea with her possibly telepathic cat Cookie.

Thank you to all my readers for being patient and understanding. It’s taken me years to write this book and figure out my life and schedule. As I learned more and more about writing, I had to return to book one and revise it; I had to split my time between writing, editing, marketing, and freelance gigs; I had to rethink my whole approach to writing and publishing. I may not be a full-time writer yet, but now that it’s all figured out, I can’t wait to write the rest of the series and share it with you.
A big thank you to my patrons on Patreon: Lindsay, John, Ken, Levi, Tom, and Alexander. Your support means so much to me, and all the new ideas I have for Patreon make me excited. Can’t wait to share the next book chapter by chapter and hear your feedback!
Thanks to my beta readers: Levi, Ken, and Joe Jackson. Your notes were priceless. Sorry I made you read the unrevised version, Levi! :) This book went from 132K words to 107K, and I don’t know what was more painful, revising this one or rewriting SGI.
A huge thank you to my fellow author Cassia Meare for not only helping me with editing but also making me see reason and do the damn revision, after all. I know I was a pain for a while, but only because I wasn’t even close to your level of knowledge. Thanks for the countless emails and hours spent discussing novel structure, style, and marketing.
And of course, thanks to my cat Cookie for brightening my days and not puking on me at night (most of the time).
