“What do you want?” Josie bit her bottom lip, and Kai groaned.
“You. I want you. Doesn’t matter where. As long as we’re together, all I want is you.”
Josie released her lip then licked it. “You have me.”
Chapter Ten
Josie’s mind was spinning, and her body was heating back up. Not with fever, like before, but with need. She couldn’t miss Malakai’s erection. She also couldn’t stop herself from rubbing against it.
Kai grabbed her hips. “Sunshine, you’re killing me.”
“Oh. I thought…” She moved to slide off his lap, but his grip tightened.
“No. You thought right. I want you. I want to strip you down and make love to you all day, but if we do that, I won’t be able to stop until I claim you.”
“I thought that’s what you wanted. Why your friends brought me back here. To convince me to accept all this is real. To accept you.”
“They brought you here because I was dying. And yes, for those reasons too. But I need to know you’re doing this because you want me. Want us. This isn’t like marriage where we can get divorced if it doesn’t work out. Once I claim you, you’re mine for about another five hundred years. Are you ready for that?”
“That’s a long time. What about you? Can you see yourself with someone like me for that long?” Josie didn’t want Kai to be stuck with her when he could have someone prettier and less… rambly. “I admit thinking about living that long is mind-blowing, but it’s also exciting. I get the hot guy, and you get—”
Kai cut her off with his mouth. Josie didn’t know how it happened. One second, she was straddling his legs, and the next she was on her back with him on top, kissing the shit out of her. All she could do was hang on for the ride. Malakai kissed her breathless. Literally. He devoured her mouth. It was unlike any kiss she’d ever had. Not only could she feel his passion because his hard dick was pressing against her thigh, but he poured everything he was feeling into the kiss. His tongue was soft yet demanding. His hand gripped her hair. Not hard enough to hurt but just tight enough to get her attention.
Kai broke the kiss long enough for her to suck in a breath, then he was back on her. Josie didn’t know if it was the mate bond making him crave her, or if he truly found her sexy. In that moment, she didn’t care. She needed him. Needed him to make love to her. To fuck her hard. To claim her. She had never felt so wanton, and she liked it. She really liked it. If this was what she had to look forward to for the next five hundred years, then yes, please.
When Kai’s hand slid under the scrub top she was wearing, reality crashed down. “Stop.”
Kai disappeared. Somehow, he’d gotten to the other side of the room in seconds. His chest was heaving, and he looked wild. Like he was moments away from devouring her. She propped up on her elbows. “I didn’t mean stop, like I don’t want this. I meant stop because if you touch me, I’m going to come apart. I want that. I want you. But I really need a shower. I’m kind of gross.”
“I don’t care about that.” Kai stalked back to the bed and pulled her ankle, dragging her to the edge. He bent and picked her up, tossing her over his shoulder.
Josie laughed. “What are you doing?” Then she sobered because she had a perfect view of his perfect ass encased in nothing but tight boxer briefs. Since she needed somewhere to put her hands, she grabbed hold of both cheeks and squeezed.
“Putting you in the shower. I don’t care that you don’t feel clean, but I can sense how much it bothers you.” With her splayed over his shoulder, Kai turned on the water. “Here’s what’s going to happen. You’re going to take the quickest shower of your life. I’m going to change the sheets. Then I’m going to get both you and the bedding dirty again. At some point in messing you up, I’m going to claim you. I’m going to show you how desirable I find you. Eventually, I’m going to feed you because you’re going to need sustenance for rounds four or five.”
Oh my.
Kai set Josie on her feet. “Chop-chop, Sunshine. Daylight’s burning, and so am I.” Kai adjusted his erection, his eyes full of heat. Like her body. Maybe she didn’t need a shower after all.
Kai grinned and put his hand out to stop her. “Nope. Shower. Now. I feel your indecision, but I also know you feel gross, as you put it. Enjoy this alone time because it’s the last shower you’ll be taking without me.”
Kai left the bathroom without a backward glance. Josie never stripped down so fast in her life. The water was the perfect temperature, and as she washed the residual sweat from her body, her core tingled with what was to come. Me. I’m going to be coming. Past lovers had been okay. Some got her off beforehand, but most had left her aching and taking matters in her own hands later. She knew sex with Malakai Paloma was going to be different. Josie didn’t want to waste time washing her hair, but she knew if she didn’t, she’d regret it. There was no conditioner, but she couldn’t be bothered to worry about that. After drying off, she used a bit of Kai’s deodorant then brushed her teeth with his toothpaste and her finger. She finger-combed the tangles as best she could. Josie paused to look at herself in the mirror. After today, this was the face she would be seeing the rest of her life.
