Did that mean they could not make love beforeshe danced but only after?
Quit thinking about making love to Juliettehe admonished himself. Though what man would not? Her bodice wassnug and not of the current fashion as it was fitted to her smallwaist. From there the skirt was full but fell to just above herankles. It was a dancing costume of course, but more alluring thanthe fashions ladies wore today, where the bodice only fitted acrossthe breast and the rest of the dress loose, leaving a gentleman towonder at her shape. Though he wouldn’t have minded if Juliette’sbodice was cut more of today’s fashions. He had watched her as shestretched over her leg and if she would have been wearing the lowercut gown he was used to in Society he might have been able toglimpse more of her lovely breasts. But her costume was designed tobe fitted to her body so that nothing was revealed, other than aportion of her leg, when she moved.
“A waltz instead,” he suggested. He wanted tohold her and remain close to her, if not closer, and the waltz wasthe only thing he could think of to bring her into his arms, without simply pulling her there.
Juliette bit her bottom lip and her eyebrowsfurrowed. “I’ve never waltzed before.”
How could she come to be the age she was, bea dancer and never have waltzed? Of course, even though it waspopular in Vienna, it was still frowned upon by many in London whoconsidered it immoral. “I’ll teach you.”
Acker lifted her left hand and placed it onhis shoulder before he grasped her right hand and slid his handabout her waist. Neither wore gloves and his warmth enveloped hercool touch.
“Have you at least seen a couple waltz?” heasked before they began.
Juliette nodded.
He blew out a sigh. Though he knew wellenough how the steps moved, he wasn’t at all certain he couldteach. “It is a three step dance,” he began and stepped out.“Follow my movements.” She stepped out as he had, and brought hernext foot over when he put his feet together. He then steppedforward yet Juliette did not move immediately and was pressedagainst his body. She quickly matched his movement, her faceturning a lovely shade of pink.
They repeated the steps a few more times andJuliette caught on immediately much to Acker’s disappointment. Herather enjoyed having her breasts and thighs pressed against him.So much sensation from touch was usually lost through the layers ofclothing a gentleman was required to wear, but her dress was thinand as he wore only his shirtsleeves her soft mounds were brandedinto him.
Soon he began executing turns and Julietteadapted to each movement. She was a dancer after all so heshouldn’t be surprised. He twirled her from one end of the room tothe other in complete silence. They did not need music nor did theyneed to speak. Their eyes were locked and the sway of her body wasa perfect match for his. He drew her closer and closer until theywere practically one, in perfect harmony with the other. Theirthighs brushed and her stomach and breasts continually came intocontact with him. Acker grew warm and aroused.
They fit so well together and he knew theywould be excellent lovers if given the chance. If she responded tohis touch in dancing, what kind of response could he expect whenthey made love?
He shouldn’t be thinking about making love toher because it only increased his discomfort. But how could he not.He had wanted her from the moment he saw her. Had been pulled toher in a way he had never been drawn to anyone else and the reasonhe pursued her night after night even when she refused to meet withhim. Now that she was in his arms, all he wanted to do was lay herdown and love her. It didn’t matter that he had only known her fora few days. To him it was as if he had been waiting for this momentfrom even before he left England. These feelings and sensationsrumbling around inside is what he had wanted each time he took alover or met a debutant. Though a few had excited him, nobodythrilled him as Juliette. No one comforted and aroused at the sametime the way Juliette’s touch did. He ached for her. A few dayswith Juliette would never be enough.
Is this what poets spoke of? Acker hadn’t putmuch stock on their words and assumed most were meant to win theheart of a lady or young woman. Perhaps he was now beginning to seethe truth of which they spoke. Did a heart recognize its matebefore the rational mind succumbed?
Acker shook the ridiculous thoughts from hismind. It was simply the beauty of Milan and of the woman in hisarms. Once he was back in England, where he belonged, he wouldlaugh at himself for having such foolish thoughts.
As they moved down the room, Acker guided hertoward the settee. He slowed as they came to the sitting area, dropped her hand and pulled her against his body. Did sheunderstand or even notice the hardness of his arousal pressedagainst her soft abdomen? It had been growing since they firstbegan to waltz. Juliette was tall and thin without a bit ofindulgence usually found in ladies of society. He anticipated herbreasts would be small as well, an assumption he made when hadfirst seen her dance. Acker couldn’t wait to expose them and tofinally feel her long legs around his hips when he buried himselfwithin her.
She brought her other hand up to rest on hisshoulder and didn’t try to pull away, but looked up into hisface.
Acker gently tightened his hold and loweredhis mouth to hers.
Though Juliette was taller than most women,Juliette went on her toes to meet Acker’s lips so he wasn’t forcedto bend. They were warm and firm and nearly stole her breath. So,this was a kiss. It was her first real kiss.
He traced the seam of her lips with the tipof his tongue and Juliette parted for him, not sure what to expect. He plunged inside and
