and we can truly begin.

“Alright, thank you all for joining us today. Don’t worry, Sgt. Hototo and Trainer Kaliska, we’ll get you to the aeroport in time for your flight home. And Chief Yanaba, you’re remaining a few more days, correct?”

“Yes, until Saturday. But I’ll be back for Wednesday’s class on cases originating in Mexico. Thank you for hosting me so well this week.”

“Okay, great. Well, let’s start with our trainers. How do you think the first day’s sessions went? Is there anything you’re thinking of changing for subsequent classes?”

We continued in this same vein for the next hour. Everyone contributed to the discussion and overall it was a productive call. But thankfully it nears the end without me taking on any additional tasks.

“Okay, Gray. Thank you for all your hard work with pulling this together, we appreciate it. I’ll be nice and hold off discussing the Phase Two project for a few weeks, at least until we finish the retraining.” Sheriff Helki looks entirely too gleeful as he speaks.

“Sounds good. Looking forward to it. Well, I’ll see whoever at the meeting tomorrow afternoon. Goodbye.” Dang, spoke too soon about taking on more tasks.

Hey, Gray. I have a few questions.

Sure, Vic. But I only have ten minutes until my next meeting. What’s up?

So, I’m working on rearranging the training materials, and there’s no easy break in the first day. Like it’s five chunks but of different lengths. Remember we had a problem even figuring out a good time for lunch until we decided on an early lunch with two afternoon breaks to make up for it

Ugh, yep. Okay, let me bring up the agenda and we’ll see what can do. If Saturday is too short, then that pushes too much material to Sunday, and no one wants that. Too long and we lose their attention span.

Yep, that’s what Jay and I were wrestling with yesterday. Sorry it took so long to reach out to you.

No problem. Everything is set with the time changes on Saturday and Sunday, correct? And food is good for Sunday? I’m still looking at the materials…

Yes, we received responses from all the trainees, and they’ll be there for both sessions. We aren’t starting until 10am Sun, though. Church in the morning for many. And yes, Jay has lunch all set, but it’ll only be 30 minutes.

Okay, that works. How about we move section 6 to Saturday and section 3 – 5 to Sunday?  We then proceed to hash out the new schedule including lunchtime.

I knew you could fix it. Also, what do you think about letting them have a couple days off next week? Delaying their mentor assignments to Wednesday so they can have a few days to settle?

We’d be messing with too many mentor schedules, plus it sets their housing eligibility back for however many days. But we can have them do light shadowing for the first few days. Maybe half days on Mon and Tue. You and Jay work it out, thanks for the suggestion. Need me for anything else?

No, we’re good. However, Libby wants to know if you can meet her earlier than scheduled this afternoon. Like, 45 minutes before Imital’s meeting?

Okay, I can be ready. See her then.

Next up is the employee meeting in our conference room, but first I detour to take the puppies and their supplies outside to the dog run. They don’t need to be cramped up in the meeting with me and everyone else. At least the two of them should have some play time today.

“Hi, everyone. Sorry, I’ve been so out and about this week, it’s been kinda crazy. I know that usually you all run this meeting and I just chill, but I have some things to discuss today. So, if you don’t mind, I’ll go first.”

“Sure, Gray. What do you have for us?”

“First, none of the following will affect me covering my portion of Soon Yee’s clients when she goes on vacation in a week. Soon Yee, you’re on track for that?”

“Yes. All my clients know, and everyone here has their list of accounts they’re covering for. I’ll have some one-on-one meetings with you all next week to discuss anything pending, but most of the clients shouldn’t have anything major occur the week I’m gone.”

“Wonderful, enjoy your trip. Dani, what’s the schedule for traveling to Council Bluffs to help my sister with the new agency?”

“Dio and I will be there for the first few days of next month. We’re mainly there to help arrange the office building and equipment as well as help with interviews. I’ve been coordinating with Council Bluffs and Tommie to make sure all the employment rules in SoPlains are followed. My priority is to hire an office manager and with Rhea’s help, the new event coordinator while Dio helps Tommie with the other staffing.

“Then in the middle of next month, it’s Rhea and Noah. They’ll be there to help the new hires. Tommie will start out with the office manager plus two junior financial advisors. The event coordinator is for our new client, Etzanoa.” Etzanoa is the central seat of Southern Plains. They were originally going to be a client that Rhea and I split as they have several annual events, but now with Tommie opening shop in Council Bluffs, I’m just going to hire someone there to handle it.

“Great job, Dani. I appreciate everyone helping our umbrella expand to include financial stuff which I never expected to be involved in. Whatever, it’s my sister’s deal. But I welcome the opportunity to open an office in another conservatorship.

“So, the last piece I have is a two-parter. First, I’ll be moving to work from home. I’m packing up next Saturday and the movers will transport my stuff Sunday. Then the week that Soon Yee is gone, Araceli and her contractors will remodel my old office. But I’m not deciding what’s going to be done, you are. I’ve sent everyone two mock-ups of the remodel. You have until end of day Monday to
