But the life growing inside my mate’s body gave us a future I’d never dreamed to hope for.
“I love you, my iubita.”
She sighed and pecked my lips again. “I’m going to need a new pet name for you, aren’t I?”
I chuckled and touched my forehead to hers, grinning like a goddamn idiot. “Nah. We can call them Kitty and Cat.”
She smacked my arm although she laughed along with me. “How about we wait until they’re born and see what our inner cats think is appropriate?”
I heaved a sigh. Two more shifters to teach. “I have this sudden feeling I’m going to fail as a father since I didn’t have one of my own.”
Ashlyn’s brow furrowed. “Don’t you ever question yourself like that. You’re going to be an awesome father—same as you are a mate and husband. You’re perfect in every way—heart, body, and soul. They’ll be blessed to have you, same as I am.”
I stared down at her a full ten seconds before claiming her mouth.
Goddamn, this woman.

Prologue
Blaze
“Son of a motherfucking bitch,” I hiss when I see the papers in front of me. Another woman has been kidnapped, in our territory, I’m fucking livid and ready to blow some shit up. Human women have been vanishing in our town for the last six months, and I’m fed the fuck up. We’ve been swarmed by the local law enforcement to assist them in this investigation. Folder after folder sits on my desk, all containing pictures and information on what’s been gathered so far. They have absolutely nothing in fucking common and I’ve wracked my brain trying to come up with a solution to capturing these assholes. Yet, I have nothing to work on, no place to start.
My name is Blaze Montgomery, and I’m the president of the West Texas Chapter of the Dark Leopards MC. This club is my family, an indestructible brotherhood of shifters, some leopards, some not. Either way, I could care less if my brothers were purple unicorns, as long as they abide by our laws and enforce our ways. We aren’t what you’d call a lovey-dovey sort of MC, we get down and dirty. We take no prisoners, and we make no apologies for the way we live. Our existence to the humans has been a well-hidden secret for generations.
When the club was first started, you could only hold an officer’s patch if you were of the leopard breed; now, we’ve changed that. If you are not a leopard, you can hold an officer’s patch, unless it’s that of the president or vice-president. It’s worked out in our favor, seeing as most of my officers are other breeds of shifters, my most entrusted group of men. I couldn’t imagine my table missing these men. The shift that happened in our club was the best thing to have happened in my opinion. It’s a closely guarded secret, only being passed down to the two heads of each club.
Everyone else is left in the dark for a reason. It’s not that we enjoy keeping secrets from our brothers, it’s to ensure the survival of our club. We can’t have a shifter war happening, we have to protect our own at whatever that cost may be. It’s never to be written down or spoken of, it’s an unwritten rule that death will occur if our reasons get out. We’re all cats of one type or another, it’s the only way we could co-exist with each other. My door flies open and I see my beautiful mate, Glory, come rushing in, fear consuming her as she runs to me.
“Blaze. Oh my God, Blaze,” she cries out, planting her ass in my lap and her tear-stained face into my chest.
“Talk,” I bark out.
“My friend, Angela, just called me.”
“Your human friend from work?” I inquire.
“Yes, her daughter, Maritsa, is missing. She just vanished into thin air walking home from school today. The police aren’t taking her seriously. They say she’s probably just hanging out with some friends or not wanting to come home. But… but they had plans to go shopping for a prom dress. She wouldn’t miss it, it’s all she’s been able to talk about for the last two weeks since they planned it. Something’s terribly wrong, Blaze. We have to do something!” She hysterically babbles through her sobs. All I can think about is my latest report, the one that says a young lady on her way home from a college class disappeared without a trace. The cops assumed it was the same scenario that was dished out to Angela. They can take that and shovel it down their damn throats. I’m tired of these lazy as fuck assholes who’d rather shove a donut in their mouth than do some authentic police work.
“I’ll look into
