Jack and take a healthy swig.

“Your girl is hot, way to go, brother.” DoRight takes a swig of his beer. “Ava and Vicktoria will take good care of her.”

As the party kicks up the brothers all start getting a little rowdy. Brenna is sitting on my lap while a couple of the prospects wrestle on the ground. “Is this normal?” she whispers in my ear.

“Yeah sometimes the boys just need to get that aggression out. Sometimes they’ll shift, but if that happens things can get a little dicey. While they do this, stay by me just because I don’t want you getting hurt.”

I glance around the club while the prospects fight and find Ginger staring at Brenna and I really don’t like the look on her face—I’ll have to keep an eye on that situation and make sure that she stays the fuck away from my girl.

When the guys are done fighting, Brenna jumps right in to help Ava and Vicktoria get the guys cleaned up. I feel a hand on my shoulder—DoRight sits down next to me. “What’s up?”

“Nothing, man, your girl seems to be getting along with everyone. You know if she’s having any doubts about stuff I could have Vicktoria talk to her.”

I nod, saying, “Thanks man. I appreciate it. Yeah I’ve been waiting on pins and needles for her to run scared, but fuck me she’s not…even knowing we’re all shifters.” I set the bottle of Jack I’ve been nursing, down. “I have to piss, I’ll be right back.”

Brenna

I’m having such a good time. There is definitely a sense of family here—one that I haven’t ever had. The other old ladies, gosh I don’t get that title, included me immediately. They gave me the lowdown on the club whores, another title I don’t like, and the brothers to steer clear of because they’re grouchy.

Dylan’s sister has been the sweetest. She’s a gorgeous blonde with eyes identical to her brother. Ava tried to pump me for information about us mating, but I honestly didn’t know what to tell her.

Vicktoria is Dylan’s BFF, or at least that is how she described herself. When her boyfriend, DoRight, was being an ass, Dylan beat him up. Her son, Rhys, goes to the school I teach at, but I didn’t have him in my class. I do know that he’s a good boy and smart as a whip.

Now I’m helping the girls fix up the two prospects that were fighting each other. Their first aid kit looks like it belongs in the ER. They even have sutures and staples.

“We heal fast, but sometimes not fast enough. We even have a doctor on call if we need something beyond our scope of practice,” Ava says as she tapes down the gauze on Seth’s head.

“Wow, you guys do a lot for them.”

“I can’t wait to find my old lady,” Seth says wearing a sweet grin on his face. “She’s gonna have big ol’ tits.”

My eyes widen and Vicktoria just hits him in the back of the head. “Don’t say that shit in front of ladies.”

“Sorry.” Seth and the other guy slink off, but do it laughing.

We head out to the party and I see Dylan disappearing down the hall toward the bedrooms. At the bar I ask for a bottle of water. I have to teach in the morning and I don’t want to be hungover because that would be fun for no one.

“Hey.” I turn to find a gorgeous redhead standing behind me. If I could’ve chosen the body type I’d end up with it would be hers. Tall, curvy, but fit.

I smile, saying, “Hi, I’m Brenna.”

“I know who you are. When I heard that Slash found his mate I just had to get close and see what all the fuss was about. Has he bitten you yet? I love it when he bites me.” She rubs a spot on her neck and moans. “You’ll never be enough for him, you know that right? He wants wild and look at you, honey, you’re not wild at all.”

She flounces away and my stomach turns. He was with her—Dylan had sex with that woman. Why does it hurt to think he bit her? He had made it seem like something super special between two mates.

This was a mistake, I don’t belong here and it was stupid to think that I did. I find Ava and move toward her. “Ummm…I don’t feel well, can you take me home?”

She looks me over and thankfully believes me. “Sure, I’ll just go let my brother know.” I watch after her as she crosses the clubhouse and then disappears down the hall that Dylan disappeared down.

A minute later they come out of the hall and he’s clearly worried as he comes to me. “Babe, what is it?”

“I don’t know, but all of a sudden I got a really bad headache.” I deserve an Oscar for that performance.

“Okay I’ll take you home.”

I shake my head and then press my hand into my forehead, feigning pain. “I don’t think I could ride on the back of your bike right now. Ava said she’d take me home.”

“Yeah, okay. I’ll call you tomorrow.” He gives me a kiss that brings tears to my eyes. It’s deep and his tongue dances with mine. When he pulls back he smiles down at me.

“I’ll talk to you tomorrow,” I tell him before turning toward the door.

I hear Ava speak up. “I’ll get her home safe.”

When we first get in the car, silence surrounds us, but I’m thankful for it. We’re about halfway to my house when Ava pulls into the parking lot of the gas station. She shuts off the car and turns to face me. “What happened tonight?”

“What do you mean?”

Her smile is sweet and friendly. “Honey, you were fine and then you wanted to go home. Please tell me what happened.”

I don’t mean to, but I begin to cry as I tell her what the gorgeous redhead said to me.
