I lean down to check the battery and the spark plug when I hear her say, “You’re stuck with me, kid. I am going to love you until my dying breath and then I will still love you. No one will take you away from me without me fighting tooth and nail for you." He nods his head. Just as I check the spark in the battery, and notice a slight bulge at the side, I also look at her serpentine belt and notice that it's well worn.
I reach into my saddle bags and pull out the small battery booster I store in there, hook it up and step back, telling her to turn it over.
As the car comes to life, I unhook the booster pack and put it in its carrying case, before going over to her window.
"So we meet again, bijou. A few things, you are in desperate need of a new battery, and a new belt. Heck a new car wouldn't be a bad thought either." I chuckle as I watch her face fall.
"I can barely afford the small apartment and the little extras we have; I'll have to scrap the car." I can't stand the sadness in her voice; it makes me want to curl up beside her and hold her tight telling her that I will make sure she is safe.
I hand her the booster pack before I say, "Bring your car by my place within the next few days and I'll make her run right as rain. No cost to you, as I get to spend time with you and the little man who is staring at me in the back." I stand up, wink at them both and walk away, after running my thumb down her cheek.

"Mom, who was that?" Rhys's question shakes me from the deep perusal of the man currently walking away from me and the nice firm ass framed by black jeans.
"I-I'm not sure who he is, Bubba. All I know is that twice today he has helped me." I reverse out of the parking spot and head toward the small apartment we live in.
"Mom, Becky was picking on me again today." The sadness in his voice every time he tells me what happens at school breaks my heart. I have spent many days fighting with the principal, going to the superintendent and as high as I can. All I get is the run around, it's like the school only cares if you have money.
"What did she do, Bubba?" I watch his face fall, tears building in his eyes.
"She is telling everyone that I'll be an orphan soon. That you are going to leave me because you'll find out I'm stupid." My anger spikes, what gives this family the right to torture and beat on mine?
"First, Bubba, you are not stupid. You have the highest grades in your class. Your grades and all of your teachers prove just how smart you are. She can run her mouth all she wants, you’re not the one struggling to pass." I see a small smile spread across his lips.
"Second, you're…,” my anger spikes.
I can't believe that bullying is still an issue in today's society, I mean we have no problem defending the big girl at the gym or the person who is down on their luck, but yet when bullying is in full force toward our children, we step back and decided that the person is just angry.
“I had a run in with her dad today too, that’s how I met the big guy that helped us tonight. He defended me, but then he took off.” There is something so familiar about his amber eyes, it’s like I’ve seen them somewhere before.
“Mom, do you think that he will start spending time with us?” he questions, watching where we last saw the mystery man on his bike. A man that is extremely hot, and one I’d be willing to walk beside and stand up for or have him fuck me stupid in the forest.
“I’m not sure we will ever see him again.” I’m on the darkened road heading to the place that we currently call home, for a hot shower and maybe some social media searching for a man that I have no clue who he is, just his image burned in my brain.
As we pull into the lot where we park, I notice the building is roped off and all the residents are standing outside. My spot is at the back of the lot so we pull in, get out of the car and head towards the crowd.
“Vikki, there you are, do you know what is happening?” my next-door neighbor asks me.
“Mrs. Cochrane, I just got home with Rhys. Did they say anything?” I question my neighbor and look toward the police that are all standing around making jokes with each other.
“Excuse me, sir?” I raise my hand to get the attention of the closest officer.
“Well what do we have here, how can I help you beautiful?” He sneers at me as his eyes move over my body and land on my tits, as I roll my eyes.
“What is going on? Why are we not allowed to go into our homes?” I seem to be the spokesperson amongst the residents, even though I am the newest person in the building.
“The Mayor told us to check this building for a suspect that was recently involved in a trafficking case. We have closed the building until further notice. You are to each find another place to live.” He waves his hand like it’s that simple and turns his back on us.
“Dude, you do know the people that live in this building can’t afford another place to stay. What do you expect us to do?” He shrugs his shoulders and continues walking away from us,
