Ava
Steal the car, Ava.
It’ll be easy, Ava.
I’ll be right there with ya the entire time, Ava.
“Fuckin’ fuckity fuck you Slash. Fuck.” I growl into the dark confines of the car. I’m a goddamn thief, and damn good at it too, fuck you very much. What I’m NOT is a car person. Need me to break into a house and boost some art, some jewels, some money… I don’t care, I can do it. I can crack any safe in record time in my sleep. But the second you put me in front of a car, I am no longer in my element.
That’s why when my brother Slash, VP of the North Michigan Dark Leopards MC Chapter, came to me and dangled this job in front of my nose, I flat out refused. So, Ava, you ask, how did you end up driving a stolen corvette, whose radios stuck on fuckin’ Kenny G of all things, through the woods in the middle of the night? Good question self. I find myself in this oh so lovely situation because my brother is a fucking asshole. He swore on his life that he would be with me every step of the way and handle all the “car stuff” but he also assured me things would go smoothly and nothing could go wrong.
Fuck him. Fuck him six ways to Sunday. In all my twenty-five years, I have never hated him more.
Not only did he stand me up tonight, he also never told me the drop point. He’s just lucky I can disable a security system with one hand tied behind my back and at least know how to jumpstart a car. If Slash wants to leave me high and dry, then I’ll finish this job by myself. Neo has his hands in all the club’s tech crap, I bet if I call him and bribe him with enough coffee and banana bread, he can pull whoever Slash’s contact is for me. One of the few perks of being raised as part of the club, and being the VP’s sister, is I have been able to establish my own contacts and relationships within the Brothers over the years. I don’t have to just go through Slash for everything, thank god, or else nothing would ever get done. The fact most of them know I could take them in a fight doesn’t hurt. I may look like a Viking Princess, but I’m built like a gymnast and twice as strong and wouldn’t be caught dead in anything other than my jeans and shit kicker boots. I’m anything but a Princess.
Okay, first things first. Where to drop this monstrosity of a car for the night? And yes, monstrosity. I’m more of a mustang girl myself, not to mention I prefer the classics, and this is one of the newest models. Too many buttons, bells, and whistles for my taste. Under normal circumstances I would love to spend a night taking a joy ride in Mayor Burns’ new Vette before turning it in for a pretty penny. But with the Mayor in rare form lately and that bastard of a new Sheriff sniffing at my tail, I would much rather lie low at the moment. When the turn off the secluded backwoods highway comes up that will lead to my family’s cabin, I take it. There’s an old pole barn on the property that should work as a place to stow the car until I can figure out where to drop it. It will have to do for now.
Growing up, we used to come up here almost every weekend in the summer, and any time we could get away when school was in session. Now with mom gone and dad who the fuck knows where I’m the only one who uses it. Sure, Slash has a key and I would
