grammar are something to be desired.

Writing this story was certainly a surprise and I didn’t know if I could do it, as I’ve never written a Paranormal Romance before, this was new terrain for me, but I enjoyed every minute of it even when I didn’t think I could do it.

To Liberty, Kayce, Darlene, Samantha McCoy and Ember Phoenix, I pestered all of you with relentless questions and I appreciate all of the help and kind words and virtually slapping the shit out of me when I started doubting myself. I hope I did this correctly, especially the part with Salvation and Andi.

I appreciate every note, text, message and post of encouragement as I put the thoughts in my head down on paper. This is never easy, but it’s a lot of fun to create characters and lives outside of your own.

Thank you all for getting me out of my comfort zone and giving me the chance to try and write something I may never have otherwise.

Chapter Seventy-Two

Leaning against the bar, I toyed with my tequila, watching the other shifters and humans mingle through the club. I kept an eye on the strangers, the regulars knew enough not to start shit, but often, newcomers came through and didn’t know all the rules. Nikki was showing off her assets to the crowd, living off the attention and free drinks. The black leather dress nearly covered her body, and she was wrapped around one of the newcomers, flaunting herself to whichever cat would dare to come for her. She often caused fights between horny stupid males, but it was one of her joys to toy with the boys. Mine was to make sure nothing happened to her nor any of them. Another man stalked towards Nikki, slapping her on the ass. It brought an unpleasant growl from her, spinning her to face him. Pushing off the bar, I stepped onto the dance floor to stop it. Tossing my long black braid behind my shoulders, I prepared for a possible battle.

The new man probably was on the low end of six feet and full of attitude, liquor, and muscle to back some of it with tats saying he had seen time and the streets. I might come up to his chest with my boots on, but it didn’t matter. He was human, and I might look like a curvy Hispanic woman, but I hit like a full shifter even in my human form. I pulled him back by his shoulder as Nikki hissed, her nails thankfully still human and the man she had been dancing on already split from the situation.

“What the fuck?” My new friend roared, turning to look for who had interrupted his fun to find little old me holding him. He tried to jerk his arm away, pressing into his shoulder he grumbled but stopped moving to stare at me. For a human, he was doing well, attempting to intimidate me, but it was useless. I gave him a toothy smile allowing a hint of my golden eyes to peer through, seeing what type of monster he might be. My shapeshifter had brought along with it other skills, one being able to find killers. Especially ones that felt no remorse or guilt, the ones I did enjoy hunting to punish. His brown eyes widened at the pressure I kept on his shoulder, pushing him down closer to me. He began to swear colorfully, control kept him near enough for him to hear when I spoke softly, not bothering others. Nikki spun away to pick up someone new for the evening, safe and sound.

“You don’t get to treat our women like that and get away with it,” I spoke. He was forced to listen now that he was stuck eye level with me. I had him with only one hand to keep his movements with me. “Either learn to behave or find a new club.”

“You can’t tell me what to do, bitch.” He hissed out, pain flickering through his eyes but nothing over his face and forced position. He was decent, probably spent enough time at the top of human gangs to know how to behave and keep his manner controlled.

“Actually, I can.” I pushed enough that we made it to the ground; he struggled against my hold, forcing me to use my second hand to push his head onto the floor. “Now listen, you are going to leave here and not come back, understand?”

“And if I don’t?”

“Do you really want to see what I am capable of when I am actually pissed off?” I could feel another cat close enough to watch but not interfere, probably one of my enforcers.

“Not really,” he spit out, his eyes finally blinked, and he looked away. I had won for now but might have a new enemy if he found me alone. Not that it was a concern, I could manage.

I released him and stood, he jumped up, cursing about our club before stalking out with his few buddies that following suit. Giving a shrug,
