and not have to know that he’s alive anywhere in the same proximity as me and our daughter.

“From what I was able to understand as far as this so-called prophecy is concerned is that Jamie was deemed as the man who would lead them to their ultimate salvation. He was born with a birthmark that had been foretold by their medicine man years before. According to their legend, a woman would be born on a certain day, with the moon in a certain position and full. Somehow, it all coordinates with dates, times, and whereabouts. She would be born into a particular blood line, and this woman’s sacrifice, would lead them peacefully into the afterlife, whereas they would draw her power of birth from the moon and stars. They would come back powerful and would be rulers of all kingdoms.”

“But how did they figure it was me? I couldn’t have been the only girl born at that exact time. I don’t get the whole bloodline thing either. Before my father and mother, we had no connection to the tribe whatsoever,” Cameron dumbfoundedly questions.

“How much of your family history do you know, Cameron?” I inquire.

“Not too much if I’m being honest. My family was pretty tight lipped when it came to our extended family,” she admits.

“Then I have some things I can share with you to help enlighten that some,” I insert. “Your great grandfather, twice removed, was a very powerful man and much sought out Shaman of a neighboring tribe. He married a white woman which started the hatred between the tribes. It became a feud between the two because he messed with the culture that the Indian’s were so proud of. Pure blood men and women were seen as the future. Anything tainted was shunned upon. So, when he chose a white woman, and their kids chose white spouses, they basically ruined the tribe's lineage. Jamie’s tribe saw it as a spit to their face, and that’s when the ‘medicine man’ supposedly had this vision of a prophecy, one that had to be carried out in order to align things back into a natural order. By just your existence alone, Cameron, you are a death sentence to their tribe and its future. You have to be sacrificed in order for things to go back to the way they once were. The more children you procure and produce, the harder it’ll be for things to be forgiven by their gods.”

“Is Mane in danger?” Cameron hysterically begins to sob as she questions me.

“Any children you have will have to be ‘dealt’ with, those are Jamie’s exact words. I’m sorry, Cam.”

“Nobody is going to touch you or our daughter, Cameron,” Gunner vows with anger swirling in the depths of his eyes. His face is turning redder by the second and I swear his top is about to blow it’s top.

“No wonder the tribe was so tight lipped,” Shamus says. “They are fearful for their souls if Jamie isn’t able to take out Cameron’s bloodline.”

“We’re gonna have to end them as a whole,” Blaze interjects. “If we don’t, someone may pick up where he left off. Because we all know he’ll never get an opportunity to take out Cameron nor Mane. We’ll never let that happen. If we don’t destroy each and every one of them, we’ll never know where our enemy is and when they’ll attack.”

“And, I know just how to bring Jamie out into the open,” I share.

Shamus

My head snaps in Star’s direction when she says this. “How?”

“Jamie has become obsessed with one of Jeremiah’s women. He has a standing appointment the third and fifteenth of every month with her. I don’t know where they meet, but we can watch for her to leave on those dates and follow them,” Star informs me.

“We? You mean us,” I say, pointing to the men in the room.

“Oh, and I suppose all I need to do is tell you her stage name and what she looks like and you’ll automatically know which woman it is that leaves? They all have wigs and when they’re sent to see a john, they wear different ones. How do you know the woman you follow will be the right one, Shamus?”

“Disguises aren’t going to fool us, Star,” I snarl out.

“Oh yeah?” She gives me a sneering, ice-filled look in response. “How much are you willing to bet on that?”

“What’s that supposed to mean? You could have a wart the size of a quarter on your nose, change your hair and eye color and I’d know you anywhere,” I argue back.

“Can we resume this meeting in an hour?” She looks over at Gunner as she asks this. “I have a point to make. Women, please come with me.”

Gunner laughs before waving his hand in the air, dismissing them. “We’ll see you in an hour. This should be interesting; I can’t wait to see what you’re up to.”

“Watch Ella, baby,” Star says to me as she stands up to leave the room. The women all have anxious, excited looks on their faces as they dutifully follow her from the room.

“I have a feeling you just stuck your foot in your mouth, brother,” Kruger bellows. “Get ready to pay up.”

“I’m gonna pay up alright. With my hand glued to her ass until it’s a nice shade of red,” I murmur. “Fucking woman is gonna give me fucking grey hair.”

“I think I see a little right there,” Malice points to my temple while chuckling.

“Fuck off. All of you.” But, his announcement has me wanting to take a restroom break and go check out my appearance for myself. But I won’t give these assholes the opportunity to laugh in my face. I’m not vain, but I am not ready to sport grey hair just yet. I’m too fucking young.

“While the women are gone, let’s go through our normal businesses,” Gunner states.

For the next hour, we plot and plan with the intel Star shared. Half of us will set out on the third
