“I only see one man preparing to go with her, and that’s the driver,” Gunner says as he keeps his eyes glued to the vehicle.
“There will be two,” I inform them. “The driver and a personal guard. They never do anything without having at least two men together at all times.”
“They must really trust Jamie if they don’t have several men on her,” Shamus says as his grip tightens around my shoulders.
“Not trust,” I hiss out, “fear.”
“I don’t get what’s so scary about Jamie. Does he have some kind of magic voodoo that he uses to scare the piss out of them or something?” Kruger asks, his voice laced with disgust and you can clearly hear how disgruntled he is with the entire situation.
“I don’t know why they’re so scared of him, but they do everything they can to keep him happy. I don’t understand the dynamics of their business arrangements, but he has complete control over Jeremiah,” I answer to the best of my knowledge.
“Jeremiah’s gonna have to be next to be eliminated. Once we remove his biggest threat, he’s potentially going to become more dangerous and lethal than he already is,” Gunner issues.
“I’ll help in any way I can,” I boldly announce, ready and willing to do whatever it takes to get rid of him and his followers. Jeremiah and Jamie believe that they are some sort of gods. They think and believe that they’re untouchable, and that they’ll be able to rain down terror until the end of time. Why they think they’re so damn entitled is something that I’ve never been able to understand and don’t believe I’ll ever be able to. They are just men, men with money, but that’s all they have going for them.
Gray, Jeremiah and Jamie have no good qualities. There will never be any potential for rehabilitation or saving them. They are like a damn rattlesnake; their heads need to be chopped off to save everyone from their venomous bites.
“There she is.” I point out as I see the woman I only know as Luscious walk out the door. Sandy is with her this evening, and even from this distance, I can see bruises and swelling on his face. He really paid the price for my escape, I’m just glad that he’s alive and breathing. That’s a man whose soul needs to be set free. I just really hope it happens soon for him.
Tyson starts the van up, but keeps the headlights off until we’re well out of the parking lot and traveling down the street. He stays a few car lengths behind the car we’re following and my blood begins furiously pumping inside of me.
“This feels like that game Stella and I used to play when we were younger,” I turn to Shamus and say.
“What game is that, baby?”
“Cloak and dagger.” I smile, finding that I quite enjoy staking someone out and following them. It eases my conscience that I know that my friend, Cameron, and her precious daughter, Mane, will have one less worry after this night.
“You’re too fucking cute, Star.” He chuckles as he places a chaste kiss to my temple. “Just remember, you’re the cloak and I’m the dagger. You stay in the car with Tyson no matter what you see or hear, understand?”
“Sir, yes, sir,” I amply state with my hand drawn up to my forehead in a salute.
“Don’t be fucking cute, Star,” he admonishes me. I know he’s serious, but fuck, I do know how to take direction.
“I thought you liked me when I’m cute,” I pout, sticking my bottom lip out to emphasize it.
“I do, baby. I really do, but right now, I need to get prepared to go in with my game face and my mind cleared.”
“I’ll keep my mouth zipped shut until y’all are done,” I inform him, literally taking my hand and motioning a zipping motion with it across my lips. He just smirks, but then I see his face shut down. He quickly goes from my fun-loving man, to a man that you don’t ever want to cross. I sit back and watch in amazement and wonder as all of the men I’m riding with do the same.
A shiver initially races across my spine as I take in just how deadly and lethal each one of these men can become.
Whereas normally, this would scare the ever-loving fuck out of me, instead it wraps me firmly in calmness, and I feel a sense of reprieve envelope me.
We wait a few houses down while Luscious is escorted out of her car and up to the house that she’s meeting Jamie at.
Shamus
We wait thirty minutes before taking any kind of action. We want to give them a sense of easiness before we abruptly charge in. Malice, Tracker and Kong are in the car behind us, we watch as they exit their vehicles and take to the shadows. We removed all of the interior lights earlier so that it won’t be noticeable when someone exits. We didn’t want the lights drawing attention to us; we’ll make our presence known in our own time.
As they round the house, stalking the two men who escorted Luscious here, we make our move. “Stay here,” I once again tell Star before quickly kissing her lips and following my brothers.
I don’t wait for a response, there’s too much time to waste if I was to stick around to hear her confirmation of my demand.
When I exit, I stick to Gunner’s side. Once the driver is taken out, Sandy, the guard, lifts his arms up in defeat. Texas was able to convince him that it’d be in his best interest to assist us in taking down our enemies.
When he, Sandy, explained his current situation, and that he only agreed to work for Jeremiah under Gray’s command, to try and help
