arrived to talk with him and let him know how upset I was about him ignoring me. He’d been worried about what I thought. After a few words, he knew I wasn’t the type of friend to judge his choices. Now things were settled down, and he was back in my life, which I was grateful for. When I brought the one concern I had up with Wade, about Kylo being disrespected amongst the brothers, he told me with humor, “The brothers think he’s the shit. To them, fucking is fucking, and if he’s getting paid a heap for it, good on him.”

West, another one who had kept his application from me, appeared beside Kylo. Once more, we were back to being close and good friends. I would never want my life without them in it.

“I can ask you the same question,” I said to West. “How’s work going?”

Both got far off looks, and my belly dropped. I didn’t like it.

Kylo shrugged. “Same old. Anyway, I better go clean up the mess. Not that there is a mess to clean up,” he quickly added when his gaze went to Wade behind me.

West laughed. “I’m good too, and I’ll go help him before your man kills him.”

They disappeared. I tipped my head to the side and looked up at Wade. “They’re both hiding something.”

He dipped, kissed my lips, and said, “I’ll see what I can find out.”

“You think they are as well?” I asked, turning in his arms and curling my hands to the back of his neck.

“If you have a suspicion and you’re wanting to find out and help them, then I’ll do what I can to help. For you.” What was left unsaid was that he didn’t care about Kylo or West; he just wanted me happy.

My body tingled, and my heart flared with love and appreciation.

I grinned. “Have I told you recently that I think you’re the best?”

“Only this mornin’.”

“Well, now, you’ve heard it again.” I kissed his chest. “Do you know what?”

“What’s that, babe?”

“I think I’ll leave Kylo and West alone. If they were in trouble, they would reach out for help. That I have to believe. Maybe they have something going on in their love life that they just don’t want to share yet.” I winked. “I have to give them time to share it when they’re ready.”

“Could be a good idea.”

“Then that’s what I’ll do.” I glanced at the two doorways and then back to the love of my life. “But… I mean, if you want to secretly look into it in case something bad is happening, I won’t stop you.”

His head dropped back in laughter. I took the chance to kiss his neck and then suck on his skin. All laughter died. He picked me up and set my butt down on the kitchen island. His hands grabbed my behind, and he dragged me forward. I opened my legs to accommodate his hips.

He leaned in and nipped at my earlobe. “I wish to Christ no one was here so I could take you over this counter.”

My breath picked up, and I ran my hands up and down his sculpted chest. “Maybe we could kick them out,” I suggested.

He pulled back and looked down at me. “Usually, you’re the rational one.”

I shrugged, my cheeks heating when I admitted, “You get me aroused easily.”

His smile was smug. “Good to know. At least when everyone is gone, we’ll have this entire place to ourselves.”

I moaned softly. “I can’t wait to test out each room.”

He shook his head. “I can’t fuckin’ wait to spend every damn day in the same house livin’ with you.”

More melting feelings touched me. I dropped my forehead to his chest and blurted, “I love you.”

He chuckled. “Tell me again, but do it while you’re lookin’ at me, babe.”

Lifting my head, I slid my hands to his waist and gripped. “I love you, Wade Williams.”

“I fuckin’ love you, Lucas Storey.” He kissed me briefly. “For-fuckin’-ever.”

“This is the cutest thing ever,” Mom cooed from somewhere. “Gerry, come see how cute they are.”

“Lucy, get the hell away from there. Zion said they’d be neckin’.”

Wade closed his eyes. “Can it be tonight already?”

Laughing, I shook my head. “We can’t kick them out when there’s a lot more to do.”

“Dammit.” He gave me another quick peck and then whispered into my ear. “Until tonight.”

“Can’t wait,” I replied, and then with another deeper, longer kiss, we got back to work, preparing our future.
