I open his door further and see him lying on his bed, rereading the letter I found in the book in his room.
"Hey." He says, startling me out of my thoughts.
"Hey."' I nod, "did you get a hold of her?" I point to the letter.
"No," he shakes his head and his voice trembles. "Her phone goes straight to voicemail. I think I have to report her missing."
"I'll come with you."
"Thanks. You're coming home late, is everything good?"
Aw shit, here we go. "I slept with Adri." I blurt out.
"Really?" His eyes widen, "how was it?"
"That's it?"
"We knew it would come to this right? This is what we wanted." He sounds so level headed about it, it makes me feel stupid for worrying.
"Yeah." I nod.
"So?" He grins.
"I love her," I answer seriously. "She said it back, too."
“Really?” He sits up with a smile on his face. “You both deserve this.”
“You do, too.”
He smiles at me sadly and I can feel my heart breaking. I want him to feel like he deserves it. I want him to feel loved and I want to be the one that does that for him, because I fucking love him, too. Him and I are nowhere near ready to say that to each other yet but it warms me to know I’m feeling it. It’s very possible to love more than one person at a time, this is my proof.
“I need sleep if I’m going to function at school tomorrow.” I yawn into my hand.
“Okay, goodnight.”
I don’t know what makes me move towards him, but before I can process my actions, I’m leaning over him on the bed and my mouth is pressed firmly to his.
“Goodnight.” I say when I pull away.
His hand fists into my shirt and he’s pulling me back to completely ravish my mouth. His tongue demands entrance and I open my mouth relenting to him. He tastes so fucking good and when I’m close to Travis like this, I finally feel like I’m home.
He pulls away with a grin, “your scent is mixed with hers. It’s so fucking good.” I watch as he licks his lips.
I stand up and throw him a smirk, “it’ll be even better when the three of ours are mixed.”
His eyes darken with lust and all I want to do is slide inside those sheets with him. I force myself to back away and turn to leave his room. I take one final look back and he’s gazing sadly at the letter in his hands.
When I get into the room I almost shit my pants… literally. There, sitting on my bed is Ember, and just across the hall, with the door open, I had my tongue down Travis’ throat. There’s no way she missed that exchange. I stop dead in my tracks and listen as my heart threatens to jump out of my chest. I don’t know why I’m so scared, but I am. I’m not ready and I know Travis isn’t ready to explain this thing we have.
“Just wondering if you want to ride with me tomorrow morning?” She asks as she leans back on my bed.
Nothing in her face betrays whether she saw anything or not, but this is Ember and she could lie her way out of the most advanced technology the FBI possesses.
“Sure.” I shrug while feigning nonchalance. “I want to board with the guys at lunch anyways.”
“Cool,” she stands up from the bed and walks over to me. “Goodnight.” She clasps her hand to my shoulder and then leaves the room. “Night, Travis.” She singsongs and continues to her room.
Holy fuck, I think I just had a heart attack.

Coach is in my father’s office and I can’t really hear what they’re saying through the door. The hushed sound of their voices permeates through and I can tell it’s not a good topic. Suddenly, I hear footsteps coming towards the door and I duck into the adjoining den.
“I just don’t think he needs to be forced into a situation like that.” I hear Coach say to my father. “He’s just really wrapped up in baseball.”
“I doubt that’s all he’s wrapped up in.” I hear the sneer in my father’s voice. “He’s fourteen years old, he needs to be a man. We were long men by his age.”
“It was different then, we didn’t have anything to work towards. Travis has talent. He can be in the major league.”
My father lets out a full belly laugh, “Travis will be taking over the family business. That’s the only reason I decided to have him.”
Wow, how sweet of him to show how much he loves me. Not that it surprises me, I’ve heard this plenty over the years, the only difference being he usually says it to me, not anyone outside of the family.
“Let me talk to him and I will see what I can do.” Coach attempts to persuade him one more time. For what, I don’t know.
“Why are you so invested in my son, Halbert?” My father asks curiously. I feel like the floor drops from beneath my feet. Could my father have an idea what Coach and I do together?
“I’m his coach,” I hear the slight hitch in his voice, and I can guarantee my father heard it, too. “I am invested in all my boys.”
“I’m sure you are.” I hear my father’s dry chuckle, “keep that investment away from my kid, Halbert.”
I hear Coach exhale heavily and they move to the front door. I take this chance to escape the den and move quickly upstairs to my room.
“Mister Travis,” Sonja’s heavily accented voice greets me as she exits my parents bedroom. “Everything is okay?”
“Yes, Sonja.” I smile at her, this woman is the only one in this
