There were a couple of snide remarks about jumped up Americans but I let them live.
It may not sound like it, but it was a pleasant evening. Nina was happy so I was happy.
Sunday I returned to England with plans to fly back to LA on Monday for several weeks.
Monday's flight was uneventful except for one guy sitting behind me complaining about the recent US election. He was convinced that since Kennedy was Catholic the Pope would be giving him orders.
From what I knew of Kennedy not only was he not a strict practicing Catholic, but if anyone were giving orders it would be him.
The Christmas season at Jackson House was a whirlwind. It is a good thing that Mum had a staff and a good caterer because something was scheduled for almost every day.
One night there was a Jackson Enterprises get together for upper management. I got to hand out the bonus checks for the year.
We had seven new millionaires that night. The others present were just adding to their fortune. Jim Williamson took me aside and told me that I now had surpassed two billion in my personal fortune.
That was so unreal.
Nina accompanied me to every function and I attended several of hers. At hers, I had to be in uniform. My red coat, white belt with all my medals. Even my official sword. I felt like I had snuck off the Warner Brothers set.
She was proud of her guy. We even talked about the future.
Neither of us was ready to commit to anything yet but felt we were past the high school stage of going steady. Somehow without me realizing it, a girlfriend had snuck up on me.
What was really nice was that both sets of parents approved. There was good and bad in that, as Mary pointed out so gleefully, I was really outnumbered by the women in my life.
For Christmas, we exchanged small presents, even though we could afford it no one went overboard.
