his name.

I didn’t notice him finish while I was coming down from my high, but he stayed curled behind me for minutes after.

“That was,” he panted, wiping his forehead.

“Brilliant?” I voiced, smiling teasingly to the side so he could see.

He kissed the cheek that was presented to him. “Yes, it was perfect.” He scooted off the bed, and as the cold air hit my once warm back, I pouted. He emerged from the bathroom a moment later with a warm towel and began to clean my skin. I moaned at his touch, still so sensitive. He chuckled and kissed my lips. “I can’t wait to have kids with you.”

He left the room to go to the bathroom again, and I remained frozen, eyes comically wide, and struck on the ceiling. I wasn’t ready for that, and I thanked the moon my heat hadn’t appeared yet. Rush’s head peaked out from the doorway and motioned for me to follow him. I paused and then scurried across the floor, jumping onto him.

“I hope you didn’t think we were finished.” He smirked into my neck, biting his mark. I giggled loudly, and he swung me around, pressing me into a warm shower, and starting all over again.

Fighting or Healing

The drive to Duncan Trissur’s territory took hours, around six of them to be exact, and that was only because of Rush’s lead foot. I loved road trips and excitedly watched as the environment around us grew thicker and darker the further north we got. Rush told me about his other Alpha friends and their Beta’s. I could tell that he was excited to be around other Alphas; he missed his friends.

We arrived on the Luchador Pack lands in mid-afternoon, greeted by a flurry of other Alphas and Betas, eager to get Rush’s attention. He was attacked as soon as he opened the door, large men all grabbing him in hugs and slapping each other on the back, rubbing their fists roughly on his head as their elbows wrapped around his neck.

He laughed loudly and tried to shove them away with little force, secretly happy with the attention. I unbuckled my seatbelt and turned my head away from the scene. My window had been rolled down and now a woman, pale with large, yellowish, hazel eyes, leaned her arms on the window’s edge.

“They’re like little boys,” she said, chuckling, her shoulder-length, rich, brown hair shook. She looked away from the men and me and moved away so that I could open the door. “They don’t get any better as they get older, it’s all a lie they tell us.”

I tried to fight a smile as I listened to her musings.

“I’m Cherry,” she told me, still squinting through the car windows.

“Sloane.”

Rush fought his way past the men and broke free, standing in front of me with a large huff.

“You okay there, killer?” I teased.

He smiled inwardly and came to greet Cherry. “It’s nice to see you again.” He hugged her, a short quick motion. I bit my lip and ignored him as he looked at me knowingly.

“You too, you big lug.” She patted his shoulder. “Come on, I’m sure Duncan and Francis are dying to get things started now that you’re here-and late, I might add!”

Rush shot me a humorous look, and I blushed, pulling my lips into my mouth. He slung his arm over my shoulder, and we walked into the rustic packhouse, slightly smaller than ours but just as beautiful.

A man ran up behind us and slapped Rush on the back of the head playfully. Rush flinched and let go of his grip on my shoulders.

“Oh, now ‘big man’ is ready to get going!” The man called to him, jogging away slightly. “Too bad you weren’t here on time. I’m sure this pretty little thing had something to do with it.”

Rush chuckled loudly and reached for the man who dodged him skillfully. “Duncan, this is my mate, Sloane. Sloane, this idiot is Duncan Trissur.”

Duncan stopped in front of him and bowed at the waist, holding his hand out towards me. I placed my hand on his, and he kissed the back, smirking up at Rush, who was glaring at him.

“It’s a pleasure,” Duncan purred.

“Get your hands off my mate, Duncan,” Rush said condescendingly, but without fear. Duncan let my hand fall to my side and stepped to walk on the other side of me.

“What, afraid she might like me better?” I could hear the mocking tone in his voice, and I snickered, happy that someone else liked to pick on Rush as much as I did.

“Not a chance,” Rush bit back. Duncan and Rush carried on talking over my head. I ducked out from under them and walked towards Cherry, who was standing near two other women. She smiled big and waved me over when she saw me.

“Did you finally get tired of the terrible two? I swear they’re inseparable, it’s a shame they’re both Alphas and can’t be in the same pack, or God knows what would happen.” Cherry ran a hand through her hair, exhausted at the possibility. “Sloane, this is Valentina and Dominica, Luna’s of the Mordidta Pack.”

The women turned to me; identical blue eyes, pale pink lips, and brown hair confronted me. They smiled in synchronization and bowed their heads in greeting. I did the same and lifted my head to marvel at their harmonization, every hair on their head pinned the same, every freckle of their skin matching the other.

“It’s strange to see wolf twins, I know,” Valentina giggled.

“We’re quite the gossip of the town.” Dominica rolled her eyes, still smiling.

“Don’t be rude,” Valentina whispered. “It’s not something you see every day, especially because we share a mate.”

“You share a mate?” I asked, bewildered.

The twins laughed and pointed to a tall, dark-haired man.

“Thatcher!” Dominica screamed suddenly. The man jumped and looked over at us, Valentina waving her arms. He touched his friend's shoulder and wandered over to
