then, his footfalls tapping against the linoleum.

I turned and watched my friends—no, my family—again, and I smiled.

For the first time since arriving at the City I felt lighter, as if a terrible weight had been lifted from my shoulders.

And now I no longer feared the end.

Afterword

I get a lot of questions about these books. I’ll try to answer some of them below.

How long will the series be?

Short version: If you want an ending, then this volume is as good a place to leave off as any.

I’ll probably continue writing more in this series because I love the characters and the situation so much. And I hope you feel the same way.

Long version: I’ve seen the review(s?) complaining about the length of the series and accusing me of milking the plot to make more money. That is false. I don’t write these (or any) books for the money. I do it because it’s fun as hell and immensely rewarding to hear how much readers enjoy my stories.

So, I wrote The City of Light with those worried about diving into a big series in mind. That means there’s some closure and happiness for the characters without any big cliffhangers. But yes, there will be more books in the series.

What the hell happened to the world?

I ask myself that question everyday. Oh…you mean the story world. Where did the snowstorms come from? And what about those weird shadowy monsters?

To that, I say a good magician never reveals his tricks.

I have some ideas about the storms’ and the monsters’ origins, and I’ve sprinkled them throughout the books, but I think a little mystery goes a long way. If you’re looking for a scientific explanation, though, then you’ll be disappointed. I call these books “Supernatural Apocalypse Novels” for a reason!

Will these books be available in audio?

Yes. As of this writing, Tantor Publishing is currently making the first three into audiobooks. The Snow is due out on July 21, 2020 with the other two releasing shortly after. This book, the fourth, wasn’t part of the contract, but will be made into an audiobook if the sales justify it. Tell your friends!

The narrator Tantor has hired (and who I picked), Matt Godfrey, is wonderful, and he’s narrated a bunch of big name horror titles in the past. So, I think we’re all in for a treat.

As always, thank you so much for reading and reaching out to me. I’d go crazy if I couldn’t write and share these stories with you all.
