again when they came to the palace, I didn’t even think. We snuck off into the library and started making out. But we were caught.” I let out a heavy breath, still rattled by the memory. “Had it been one of the guards, or a servant, I probably would have been able to bribe them to stay quiet. But it wasn’t. It was my father. And, Christ, the things he said…the way he looked at me…the threats…it’s something I’ve never been able to get out of my mind. It’s haunted me ever since, even after he died.”

Jai raises his hand to clasp the one I have resting against his chest. “Fuck, Lukas…I’m so sorry.”

“Every time I find myself attracted to a man, I hear that voice in my head: Future kings are not faggots! …It’s only recently that I’ve started to realize how idiotic it is to still be afraid of a ghost.”

“It’s not idiotic, Lukas,” Jai says, his other hand rubbing over my back. “It’s like you said, you were conditioned to react with fear and shame whenever you thought about another man—that’s not something you can just magically break free from.”

I lift my head so I can look into his eyes. “You helped me do it. You made me want to break free.”

He smiles and presses a soft kiss to my temple before drawing back, a thoughtful frown now in place. “You know, my parents frustrate the hell out of me. They don’t understand my choices, and, let’s face it, they’re expecting me to fail. They just can’t see how a career in academics could possibly be financially viable.” He lets out a heavy sigh. “But when I told them I was gay they accepted it without so much as a batted eye. So I guess I actually have a lot to be grateful for, and should probably stop complaining.”

“You can be grateful they’ve accepted part of you, while being frustrated they’ve tried to change another,” I point out. “It’s a parent’s job to nurture their children’s gifts. To encourage them to explore their passions. I’ve seen the way your whole being lights up when you talk about languages and history and your studies. It’s the way I feel about cars. And I think it’s incredible you’re striving to make a career out of it, regardless of what your parents think.”

Jai offers a soft smile. “That’s what you’d do if you weren’t king, isn’t it? Work with cars?”

“Absolutely. I’d be a mechanic, run my own garage.”

“Mmm…sounds sexy,” Jai purrs.

I arch a brow. “I’m not sexy now?”

He lets out a wry chuckle. “Let’s see…a king, who’s a doting father and fixes cars in his spare time? Nope, not sexy at all.”

I laugh and draw his face to mine so I can claim his lips. And in a matter of moments, the conversation is forgotten as we once again become completely lost in each other.

No, I definitely won’t be running anywhere this time.

JAI

It’s Monday morning and I have a couple hours to spare before my afternoon classes with Tomas and Katya begin, and I can think of no better way to spend the time than making out with Lukas in his office.

I’ve become an expert at sneaking past his secretary to get in here, and we’ve wiled away more than a few hours fooling around in between his meetings and my classes. I’m sure Boyd is well aware of what’s been going on—nothing seems to escape his notice—but he hasn’t said a word, and if anything, I’d say the stoic security guard is happy about the development, so I’ll take that as a win.

“We’re becoming a little reckless,” Lukas murmurs into my neck as I straddle him in his desk chair, my cock grinding deliciously against his. “Anybody could walk in.”

“Are you asking me to leave?”

He places his hands on my ass, squeezing my cheeks and pulling me even tighter against him. “Definitely not.”

And then we’re back to making out, our tongues twining together in a rhythm I’m sure I’ll never get enough of.

There’s a buzz on the speaker on Lukas’s desk, and then the smoothly accented voice of his secretary, Lena. “Your Majesty, the Prime Minister is here for his ten o’clock meeting.”

Lukas freezes underneath me, his eyes blowing wide. It’s beyond clear he forgot all about this meeting. Slowly, he reaches out to press the button on the speaker to reply to Lena. “Just a moment, thank you, Lena.” Then to me, he hisses, “Quick, under the desk.”

“What?”

“Just do it!”

I scramble off his lap and onto the ground, backing into the space under the desk, which fortunately isn’t too cramped. And also, fortunately, has a panel at the front to block me from view.

The thought enters my mind that perhaps this isn’t the first time Lukas has had to stash someone under his desk, but I quickly discard it. Lukas can barely wrap his head around the thought of a secret sex room inside the palace, no way is he getting up to shenanigans in his office.

Or, at least, he wasn’t until I showed up…

I hear the door open and one of Lukas’s guards—Dorev, I think, judging by the Korovan accent—announces the Prime Minister. I stifle a laugh as Lukas begins to rise from his chair before halting and sitting back down, obviously having realized standing would give the Prime Minister a full view of his pants, which are currently tented by his massive hard on.

“Please, Viktor, have a seat,” Lukas says before shuffling his own chair in further.

I don’t think it was his intention, but the movement puts his lap perfectly within my reach and I don’t hesitate in lifting my hand to glide over the soft fabric of his suit pants. Lukas lets out a hissed breath and I start to remove my hand, not wanting to get him too riled in front of the Prime Minister. But before I can pull away, to my utter disbelief, he takes hold of my hand and
