“The bathroom is just behind that door.” Oyster points to a door at the rear of the room. “Behind the partition is a small kitchenette. Sorry there’s no cooker. You’ll have to use the one downstairs.”
I nod. The room is bigger than the apartment I’m renting now, which is more of a one room bedsit. “I’ll take it.” The words slip out before I can stop myself from speaking. On the ride over, I promised myself I wouldn’t take the room. But one look and I was agreeing to moving in.
“Good–Let’s seal the deal.” I’m still blinking as Oyster’s lips find mine. The kiss is soft, and I lean into his body as my arms wrap around his neck and my fingers slip into his hair. It’s three years since a man has kissed me and I feed from him. Taking everything he has to offer as he deepens the kiss. His tongue slips into my mouth and my hips brush against his. Lost in his taste, I freeze when his fingers slip under my tee-shirt and brushes the smooth flesh of my back and flicks my bra free. With a tug, I free myself, stepping back as I draw in a deep breath.
“I’m taking the room, Oyster. I don’t need a lover with it.”
The gleam in Oyster’s eyes sets the warning bells off in my head. He nods as he steps back. “I’ve waited a year for you, Mal. The waiting’s over.” He licks his lips. “The room is yours. No strings attached.” He chuckles. “Bedside’s if you scream loud enough, Ma will come running up with her broom, no doubt.” He steps forward and I hold my body as he caresses the scar on my cheek. A flame leaps in his eyes, but it’s not one of passion. “I want you, Mal. And now there’s no more hiding. Not behind your hair.” He brushes my hair behind my ear as his thumb continues to stroke the puckered flesh. “And no more hiding on Demon’s Liar or Sugar and Spice?”
“Oyster.”
He leans forward, brushing his lips over mine. “No buts. No nothing. Just you and me.” Then he’s stepping back. “I’ll let Ma know you’re taking the room. That you’ll be moving in at the end of the month.”
Calm is how I like life and as I watch Oyster descend the stairs, the bells in my head tell me calm is not what I am going to get.

By early next year the last book in the Devil’s Comfort series should be available closing this series. However, if all goes well, I do have a little surprise for you all which will involve the characters from Linc the Ink’s tattoo parlor.
I am also planning on bringing out two new series and although they will be loosely linked to Devil’s Comfort the characters will be vastly different to those of the MC.
