“They’re wearing insulated clothing and their snowmobiles are designed to operate in the cold. Use your phone to take come pictures of them. We can’t stop and I don’t know how to contact the Army.”
“Daddy didn’t they give you a handheld radio to call them?”
“Yeah they did, but when I checked it the battery was dead, I guess they forgot to charge it or replace the battery so we’ll have to hope those people on the snowmobiles aren’t stupid enough to attack an Army convoy.”
Ariden smiled and added, “Yeah and we have a tank!”
Jon smiled, “A tank without a big gun, they turned it into a monster snowplow. But I did see weapons on the roofs of the other vehicles.”
A moment later they heard what sounded like a loud buzz saw over the wind they saw the snow ridge the snowmobilers had been on disappear as snow and ice were shot into the air by the firing from one of the Army’s vehicles. Erin smiled saying, “I guess that showed them.”
Everyone stared as a gray smoke tail shot from the snow ridge and struck the side of the tank-based assault breaching vehicle turned into a massive snowplow. The explosion shook them and cracked three of their side windows. Everyone, including Jon screamed from the explosion and shaking of their SUV. Ariden screamed, “Daddy they’re coming for us, LOOK!”
The leader of the snowmobilers had told his crew, “Kill the bastards and save whatever’s in the trucks. We’ll take the trucks, their weapons and anything else we see that we can use or trade for. Try not to kill any women, they’re worth their weight in heaters and fuel.”
His rider smiled, “We nailed their tank plow, so they’re stuck. Pass the word, hit them as they come out of their vehicles. It’s going to be funny, we’re going to kill them with their own weapons and ammo, that’s what they get for trying to screw us. Hit them, NOW.”
The soldiers were being cut down as they poured out of their LAVs and trucks. The snowmobilers had set up on both sides of the highway. They picked a location where they could park behind “Jersey walls” which they thought would stop the soldiers’ bullets from hitting them. They were armed with US Military M4s which were fully automatic. Each held a 30-round magazine and each of the ten shooters had an extra ten magazines. Four of them were armed with shoulder fired missiles, these they fired at the front and rear vehicle which blocked the convoy. The soldiers attempted to return fire, but they were quickly overwhelmed as they attempted to locate the shooters and return fire. The ambush site was perfect. They’d taken the soldiers by complete surprise and they used overwhelming firepower to kill the soldiers.
When the return fire from the soldiers stopped four snowmobilers moved towards the convoy to kill any of the wounded, they would load the trucks with everything they wanted, they also agreed to kill any of the survivors, except for the women soldiers.
The Coats family had hidden in the SUV, since no one exited the SUV they weren’t attacked. They heard the shooting between the snowmobilers and the few surviving soldiers. Erin whispered, “What are we going to do? We can’t fight them with the girls in the car and they have machine guns.”
Trinity whispered back, “Mom they’re not machine guns, they’re automatic assault rifles, real ones like our troops use.”
“No one should have one of them, I don’t care where they got them, all I know is we can’t stay here, or they may kill us.”
They heard the pops of single rifle shots, Erin asked, “What are they doing?”
“They’re killing all of the survivors, one shot to the head. We’ve got to get out of here before we’re all dead or worse.”
Erin whispered, “No, if we open the doors, they’ll see us, everyone lay down and don’t move, play dead. Maybe they’ll look inside and assume we’re dead. When you hear them coming hold your breath, if you breathe with the broken windows you’ll create steam which will give us away. Remember when you hear them, hold your breath.”
They heard the pops and sometimes voices in the wind begging before the pop, sometimes they heard a short chain of shooting. They heard talking and footsteps crunching through the frozen layer of snow. Erin whispered, “Hold your breath and whatever you hear or feel, do not move.”
“We found the truck loaded with the beer and food, we also got a lot of fuel and more weapons, one of the trucks had over 10,000 rounds of ammo and even some hand grenades. We have enough so as we move south, no one will be able to stop us. I want to check out the SUV before we leave.”
The Coats heard the boot steps getting closer and closer. They felt someone attempt to pull open each door which was locked. One of the riders used his rifle butt to smash what was left of the broken back seat window, he reached in and opened the door. Trinity felt his hands touch her, she couldn’t help herself, she jerked. He yelled, “Hey come over here, we got a live one here. Looks to be around 17 or 18.”
Hands reached in the SUV and pulled a screaming Trinity out of the SUV. Jon pulled his 1911 up and shot one of the riders, another shot Jon with his pistol. Erin screamed as hands dragged her and Ariden out of the car. “Look, three women, we hit the gold mine this time.”
The rider waved to
