fluffy pink bunnies on them.

“Rodney!” Larry cried, “Tell them! Tell them that I’m a good person. Tell them I need to stay.”

Rodney stumbled up to Larry, picking his bare feet over the debris strewn sidewalk. As he went by, Hilario caught a familiar scent.

Sulfur.

“I remember now,” Rodney said, “They made me do it.”

Larry tried to grab Rodney’s arms. His hands passed through. Larry’s voice came out tinged with desperation. “What? What did they do?”

Hilario clenched his hands at his side. Held his breath. As everyone seemed to be doing at that moment.

Rodney’s face twisted with sorrow. “They paid me,” he said, “Two guys in long, black coats. They wanted to see your oven. I didn’t think they were going to…”

The pizza delivery driver put his hands to his face. Went to his knees, sobbing.

“They did something to the pizza oven,” Larry said, “Keezheekoni. They let her out.”

“Agents of the dark lords,” the Sapphire Witch.

Detective Marco stepped up. “That makes it murder,” he said, “This is an open investigation.”

He held up a hand to the black angel. “You can’t take him. He’s a witness. Until this gets solved, Larry Sparrow in under my protection.”

What?

Hilario opened his mouth to point out to Detective Marco that the supernatural world didn’t fall under his authority. But then something extraordinary happened.

The black angel moved back. For a moment it pulsed. Its glimmering spikes grew. Then it swirled in on itself.

And disappeared.

For several seconds every stood in shocked disbelief.

Then Larry let out a victorious whoop and pumped his ghostly fist in the air.

Hilario looked to the Sapphire Witch. Who just shrugged her shoulders.

So much for saying goodbye to Larry.

“Son of a bitch,” Rachel said. She glared daggers at her brother. Who totally didn’t notice. He set the bloodwood box containing an amulet full of armageddon and pulled out his notebook. He started asking Larry and Rodney questions.

Hilario gently took the bloodwood box. Tucked it under his arm.

Rachel stalked away. Hailed a passing cab.

The Sapphire Witch and Odom gestured to Roger the ogre. The ogre ran over to them.

“Do you desire employment, ogre?” the Sapphire Witch said.

“Doeses I’s hases to kills things?” Roger asked.

“No,” the Sapphire Witch said.

“You’s bets I’s does,” Roger said.

The Sapphire Witch uttered a spell. Light circled them and she, the paladin and the ogre rose into the air. Then vanished into the morning sky.

Well. So much for that.

He looked down at the bloodwood box in his hand. He really should get this to someplace safe.

He got his five hundred pounds of blubber in motion toward the van.

But first…a stop at the donut shop.

Psychic, morbidly obese clowns needed to keep their strength up, after all.

Who knew what misadventure might come his way.

What happens next?

An ancient power awakens in the Unseen World.

Filled with fury.

Thirsting for more than vengeance. Far, far more.

He needs the power of another for his world-shattering plan.

The forces of light and darkness race to find that power. To control it.

In the Normal World, Zos has no clue.

The fate of worlds revolve around him.

Those seeking him have no understanding of his true power.

Or how that power responds to FURY.
