How far did she really think she would go? She wasn’t getting past the other guys in the clubhouse. When her hand was on the doorknob, I jumped toward her. I crashed into her with my body and she let out a muffled yelp. Her body slammed into the door, covered with mine. For a moment, I worried that I might have hurt her, but then she looked up at me, pinned to the wall. She was breathing hard but her mouth was parted open.
Tempting.
I wondered if she wanted me to kiss her. Why would she?
She clearly hated me, couldn’t wait to get away from me.
But I was pushed up against her, could feel the warmth and shape of her body. Her delicate, smooth neck was angled to the side, and I wanted to weave my fingers into her thick golden hair and breathe in her scent.
My cock moved in my pants and I was sure she could feel it too. What could she do if I grabbed her ass and whipped her around and took her right here, pinned to the door of Drax’s office? It looked like she wanted it.
All the other chicks I knew would have begged me for it.
But I stepped away.
Fuck that. If I really wanted to get laid, I’d just go take another chick. Someone who would be grateful for it.
Mercy’s breathing became easier now that I wasn’t pinned to her anymore. She almost looked relieved.
“What more do you want from me? I never belonged to the Silver Knights MC. I have nothing more to tell you!” She started hissing and spitting out the words. If anybody was in the hallway outside, they would have been able to hear her yelling. I crossed my arms and let her continue. She obviously had things to get off her chest.
“This isn’t where I’m supposed to be! I want to be with my grandmother. I want to make sure she’s okay. I’m worried about her. Do you people have no mercy? No humanity? I haven’t even done anything and I’m being held prisoner here!”
Her shoulders heaved and she glared at me bleary-eyed. I thought she would break into tears again but Mercy seemed to be holding it together pretty well so far.
“I just want to go home!” she cried out, shaking her head like she couldn’t believe I would be such a villain.
I breathed in deeply, watching her closely this whole time.
“You can’t go home,” I said.
“Why? Why not? This is your life. Not mine. I don’t want to be here!”
“The day you signed up to work at Teasers, you signed your life and future away to the Silver Knights. You may think they let you off easy, but they owned you and that is exactly the way they’re going to treat you.”
Her brows furrowed and she stared at me in shock and disbelief. This never occurred to her? Seriously? How naive was she?
“I don’t understand what you mean. It was just a job. I was going to quit in a few days.”
“And you think Eagle and the other guys were just going to let you walk out of that place without any consequences? Hand you a severance check while they were at it?”
“I would have found a replacement, some other girl to take my place.”
I stepped toward her and she took a few steps back.
“They don’t give a fuck about that. They give a fuck about what you know. What you saw while you worked at the club.” Mercy’s lips parted and I wanted to suck on them, push my tongue into her mouth and taste her. “And now that we have all the girls from Teasers, they are going to be on the lookout for any of you they can get their hands on.”
She stepped to the wall and knocked the back of her head gently against it, like she was giving up. Like she didn’t want to do this anymore.
“I just want to go home and see my grandmother. She has nobody to check in on her. She could be very sick right now and…”
Her eyes filled with tears again and I got that sickening feeling in my stomach. I didn’t want to see her crying.
“I didn’t mean for any of this to happen. I didn’t know this would happen. I’m so stupid. I…”
“You can go see your grandmother!” I grunted.
Mercy’s eyes grew wide.
“Really? I can? Are you serious?” With those words, came a big hug. She’d jumped in my direction, pasted herself to me with glee. Her arms wrapped around my neck and her body heaved gently with relief.
It was obvious that she regretted her decision immediately. She didn’t actually want to hug me. She despised me. Mercy quickly stepped away and an embarrassed expression washed over her face.
“Yes, you can go see your grandmother today.”
“Okay, thank you. I really do appreciate it. Maybe I’ll stay there, indoors. I won’t step out of the house till you tell me to.”
I sighed. Why did she have to keep pushing me like that?
“I said you can see her today, doesn’t mean you can stay there.”
Her face drooped. Her nostrils flared again, but this time she wasn’t going to fight it. Maybe she knew this was a good enough deal.
“You can go to see her sometimes, but you can’t live at your house.”
She looked up at me excitedly again, meeting my eyes.
“So you mean this isn’t a one-time thing? I can keep going to see her? Keep an eye on her?”
“Yes, cautiously, and there will be some rules to follow, but you can keep an eye on your grandmother.”
I thought she was going to break into a smile. She was clearly relieved to hear the news, but Mercy caught herself just in
