“Ditto,” Raven replied. “Though there’s a bottle of Absinthe waiting upstairs for us all.”
“Well,” Luke slipped his arm around Gabby’s waist, pulling her in tight. “You can stick around here for a while. Help us plan.”
Gabrielle looked at him. “For the baby?”
He nodded. “That, but how about a wedding as well?”
Epilogue
The moon filled the clearing ahead, shining on the still water behind the chateau. The two stood on the shore listening to the sound of it lap against the grasses.
“You’re running the hem of your dress,” Luke said scooping Gabrielle into his arms.
Gabby shrugged. “You only wear your wedding dress once. Think of it as me getting every dollar’s worth out of the experience.”
He touched the swell of her large breasts, kissing her before she pushed his hand away.
“Cut that out or you’ll make me lactate. It’s bad enough I look like a porn star in my wedding gown.”
“You look gorgeous. Mouthwateringly voluptuous.”
Hmph. “Your Aunt Celia said I looked obscene.” Gabby smirked, running a finger under her lip.
“Oh, Lord. What did you do?”
She shrugged. “Nothing.”
“It was you! I knew it!”
“So I caused a little whirlwind on the dance floor. Now the entire family knows she wears adult diapers.”
“Mean.”
She deserved it. Calling me obscene was the nicest thing she said about me. You forget, my witchy sisters tell me everything.” She looked down at the deep cleavage rising up from her chest. “Well, maybe that was a little mean, but I’m hormonal.”
“Now you understand where my father gets some of his crappy notions. Shitty people run on his side of my family.” He put her down, letting her slide over his body until her feet touched the soft mossy earth.
A dingy clanked in the distance, and Luke grinned, taking her hand. “C’mon!”
“Slow down! I have heels on! Where are we going?”
He scooped her up again, turning down the path toward the boathouse and the dock. “We’re going for a ride. To where our life together really began.”
“Demon Beach?”
He laughed, slowing with her once they got to the dock and the gangway. “Yes.”
They stood on the dock, bathed in moonlight, the sound of music playing at their reception swelling in the distance. Luke turned, listening.
“Shall we dance?”
He shook his head. “I can hear the baby.”
“From here?”
“Wolf hearing. It’s a blessing and a curse.”
“Do you think I’ll ever shift? I mean you claimed me almost a year ago.”
Luke looked at the full moon. “No time like the present to try.”
Shaking her head, she went up on tiptoe, kissing him quick. “Another night. I want to enjoy my dress until you rip in from my body later. You’re mother agreed to take our son for three whole nights. The full cycle of this full moon. It’s not much of a honeymoon, but when you’ve got an infant, you take what you can get.”
“Oh really.”
“Yes. So dance with me, Luke. Make love to me, and…”
“And what?”
“Never let me go.”
He swung her around, his lips taking hers as they swayed to the distant music at the house.
“Never…”
