They, that collective assembly, have all earned my trust in them. I can only hope that I have equally earned their trust in me.
Finally, special thanks to those who have helped turn this heartfelt narrative into the book in front of you. Publisher Anthony Ziccardi, managing editor Madeline Sturgeon, and the entire team at Post Hill Press and Simon & Schuster, and my agent Steve Ross have been accommodating in the extreme and a joy to work with.

End Notes
1 In his remarks that evening, Sandy spoke of the inspiration he drew from Louis Dembitz Brandeis, whose eyesight dimmed during his student days at Harvard Law School. To cope with the problem, Brandeis enlisted fellow students to read to him. He trained his memory as he absorbed the readings. And when his sight improved, he took care to pace himself, endeavoring to “read less and think more.”
