"We aren't going back to Cox." Myro said, turning the page and pointing something out to Fey, who was no longer paying attention.
"Why not?" Fey asked, turning back to Myro who was now tapping at the book to try to keep his distracted brother’s attention. "I mean, they've clearly lied to us for years about how ‘dangerous’ humans are. What do you think they would really do when one showed up?"
"Kill us." Myro was now glaring between Fey and me. I guess I was equally as responsible for putting the idea into his head in the first place. "They are going to kill us, Fey. Or did you miss the whole 'you associate with humans and you get thrown into the swamp pits of death' law?"
"Damn. If that's what's waiting for us I think I might be regretting bringing it up." I plopped back down on the couch, my mind full of all the horrifying images that ‘swamp pits’ was giving me.
"Thank you. I think we—"
"Hold up!" Fey leapt up, hands out to both of us as though we were going to jump him. "I don't think they are going to kill us!"
"Thrown into the death pits, Fey," I piped up, shivering at the toothy mouth of some swamp creature that was now haunting me. He looked cute like that though, all excited and shit.
"Unless they are so scared of humans that they created an awful death and punishment to keep them away, and to keep us from bringing them back." Fey was smug at his announcement, something that only got worse as Myro stood there with his mouth open, unable to come up with a better comeback then 'huh'. I was sufficiently lost. Was he saying the punishment was… made up?
"And, if I'm right, that means that humans can do more than give birth to super powered Coxians."
I sat up, eyes wide, "You mean like Superman?" Damn. If I could shoot lasers out of my eyeballs or something I was going to strut onto Cox and take them all down.
However, they both stared at me, confusion written on their faces. One of the bouncers at the Scarlet Feather had been obsessed with Earth myths, and the Supers were one of his favorites. The first Alien, he used to call him. I didn’t understand why my boys weren’t grasping how cool it’d be to be a superhero, but I guess they both sort of were superheroes already. That is, if spontaneous orgies could count as a superpower. I laughed quietly to myself, briefly imagining the bad guy being too horny to blow up the bank.
"Yeah, like you go to a different planet and the atmosphere gives you superpowers." I waved my hand to the side, sure they had heard the stories. Maybe they had, but they weren't taking them as seriously as I was.
"I don't think that's possible." It was clear that Myro was trying to let me down easy. I rolled my eyes at him.
"Says the Coxian who can control my sexual arousal level with merely a glance."
"Touché."
"Who knows," Fey said with a shrug, sitting down on the edge of the couch. "Maybe she would gain special abilities on Cox. I mean, the rulers have lied about everything else. She's not draining our powers. Her pussy isn't eating our cocks. What if she’s right?"
"I'm full of surprises." I gave them both a big grin. Myro couldn’t help himself, he smiled broadly back at me, always eager to share in my joy. Fey’s smile was a little more wicked, as if he wanted to discover every single one of those surprises for himself. Despite the gravity of the topic we were discussing, I felt a gentle push from both of their powers. I was learning to tell the difference between their respective flavors, which was both interesting and super fucking weird.
"You could be full of something else if you wanted," Fey teased, wiggling his eyebrows and confirming my suspicions about his intentions. He smoothly slid down onto the couch beside me like the sex god that he thought he was.
Or that he definitely was. Not that I was telling him that.
"You know, I've lived in a whore house for three years, but that's probably the worst pick up line I've heard to date." I kept my voice low, seductive and slithery as I leaned into him, well aware he was purposefully amping up the waves of his power. Silly boy, always trying to get the upper hand on his brother.
The warm tendrils left and his face fell as he registered what I had said.
"Ouch." He said, looking wounded.
"Well, if you are going to come onto me like whiplash you deserve it. It's not like sex with me is going to give you guys super powers." I laughed at my own joke. Fey was still glaring at me. Myro dropped his book with a loud bang.
"What the—?" I jumped, pulling away from him and the would-be predator.
"What if it did?" Myro whisper-shouted to himself, not looking at anyone. He seemed excited though, and was now looking around frantically, as if one of the books could confirm whatever wild thought was racing through his brain right now.
"I'll repeat... What the?"
"I guess it's my turn for a stark realization,” Myro said, finally turning that handsome face to me. “Say that the elders of our planet are scared of you because you are powerful—and you are," Myro added as though he was concerned I would be offended if I wasn't powerful, "—but what if part of those powers is with us? I mean, we already feel different after having... I mean..."
He faded off, a slight blush coloring his cheeks as he sunk into
