“We’ll be with Carm.”
“Yeah.” She mutters.
“Hey, what is it?” I grip her chin and force her to look at me.
“Just watch your back and please watch Emmett’s too. He sees that place as home and his guard will be down.” Her eyes plead with me.
“Okay Baby,” I kiss her lightly. “I’ll look after the baby brother.” I say loud enough for the fucker who’s walking towards us.
“Did you find out about another sibling?” Emmett asks as he leans over me to kiss his sister’s temple. “Because I only know about a baby sister.” He dodges Em’s fist and chuckles as he slips into the driver’s seat.
“Don’t worry,” I kiss her again. “I won’t let anything happen. I’m prepared.” I made sure to have my gun with me and it’s not leaving my side the whole time we’re there.
“I love you.” She whispers against my mouth.
“I love you too, Wife.” I kiss her deeper and grin when she moans and grips my ass in her small hands.
“Be safe.” She whispers as I pull back.
“You too, Black Slaughter.”
Her eyes light up when I say that name and she turns to smack her hand against the window. “Shithead! Behave yourself.” She yells to Emmett.
He blows her a kiss and then flashes her the middle finger. I chuckle at them both and slap Em’s ass as she walks back to the house.
“Bro,” Travis calls out. “Stay safe.”
I nod and throw up my deuces and get into the car.
“The audacity of you two, little brother my ass.” Emmett grumbles as he pulls out of the driveway.
“I’m gonna nap, I was up all night fucking your big sister. Wake me up when you need a break.” I say as I pull my cap down over my eyes.
He begins to grumble and I chuckle.

I pull into Adri’s driveway in Shelby and raise my eyebrow at her when I see a large stretch limo in front of me.
“Yeah,” she rolls her eyes. “They’re extra.”
I chuckle and we both exit the car and walk up to the front door. “Just you and me or is Travis going to show?”
“Travis and my parents have never really meshed. They think he’s ungrateful of his lineage and should be more prominent in the community.” She waves her hand around.
“So… what you’re really saying is that they’re going to adore me.” I snicker and she joins in.
“They are going to absolutely hate you and I can’t fucking wait.” She squeals and opens her front door.
“Adrianna?” I hear a woman call out. Her voice makes me picture a genteel lady from the eighteen hundreds.
“Yes, Mother.” Adrianna calls back with a roll of her eyes.
“We are in the receiving room.” A male’s voice booms out, much louder and stronger than the woman’s.
“Receiving room?” I look at her in question.
“That’s what the snobby folks call it, Dear.” She raises her hand and puts on a haughty attitude.
I snort and follow close behind her. I’ve been in Adri’s house a few times but we never linger. This place is cold and lacks human warmth. We walk into what I would consider the den or family room and Adri makes the proper introductions.
“Mother, Father, this is Emberlise Craven. Ember this is Georgina and Abe Hinton.”
“Nice to meet you.” I nod to them both.
Adri’s mother has pale blonde hair that hangs to just above her ass and skin the same colour. She’s tall and willowy with big, round, green eyes. Her father is about the same height as the mother and he’s the opposite. Where she is pale and light haired, he’s olive skinned and black haired. He’s robust and his dark eyes hold a glimmer of humour as he watches us. I can see how they passed off Adri as their own, if I didn’t know any better I would assume she got her looks from her father.
“Craven?” The mother’s eyes widen as she takes another sweep of my appearance. I’m wearing a cream coloured blouse and a gray pair of slacks. My hair is swept up into a tight bun and I didn’t bother with much makeup.
“How are you related to the Cravens?” Her father asks as he sucks back half the amber liquid in his tumbler.
“Rebecca Craven was my mother.” I nod to him.
“Oh! Yes, we heard something of this, right Abe? Twins apparently.” Georgina says.
“Right, the scandal.” He chuckles and pours the rest of the liquid down his greedy throat.
Not sure what it is, but I suddenly get the urge to wrap both hands around his turkey-like neck and watch him fight for his next breath. Adri clears her throat and points to a sofa across from her parents. We both sit and I look at both of them with interest.
“When are you guys planning to leave again?” Adri asks.
“Oh, we’ll discuss family matters later.” Her mother gives her a pointed look.
“I already know about your absent parenting technique, I must say,” I look at Adri with a wink, “she turned out great because of it.”
“I beg your pardon?” Her father booms and stands up.
“What?” I widen my eyes and feign innocence. “Did I say something wrong?”
“We suggest that you leave now.” Her mother waves her hand like I’m a speck of dust.
“Not happening.” I chuckle and sit back further in my seat to cross my legs.
“The disrespect will not be tolerated here, young lady.” Her father sits back down and leans forward. “Women should never conduct themselves out of line.”
Yep, he’s on the brink of dying and Adri sees it as she intervenes. “I think you will both want to hear what Ember says.”
“Adrianna, we have warned you against befriending such people.” Her mother looks at me with disdain. She’s next.
“It’s about my adoption.” She stresses and they both fall deathly silent.
“Finally,” I exhale dramatically. “Let's drop the act.”
“You told her.” Her father looks at her with narrowed eyes.
“No, actually Robert Greene did.” I grin at them both.
Her mother visibly swallows and
