“I hear you’re going glamping,” he offered. “What sort of sick things did she offer you to get you to agree with that?”
Jack scorched his future brother-in-law with a quelling look and pressed a kiss to the top of Ivy’s head. “She didn’t have to offer me anything. Her happiness is all I need.”
“And?”
“And she promised, if this trip goes bad, I never have to camp again.”
Ivy pulled back, her eyes crinkling at the corners. “I didn’t say that.”
“Yes, you did.”
“No, I didn’t.”
“That’s what I heard.”
“Then we’re going to have to clean your ears out when we get home.”
He chuckled as he tugged her close again, relishing the way her body fit against his. Things didn’t work out as he expected, but happily ever after was right around the corner. They had a wedding to look forward to and a honeymoon to plan.
Life didn’t get much better than that.
Sure, they had drug dealers to wrangle and questions and an investigation to launch on the resort, but the important things were handled. To Jack, there was nothing more important than Ivy.
“We’ll talk about it later,” he reassured.
“Where I’m going to win,” she growled.
“I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.”
