“Soon…” His lips tease my ear. “Why don’t you come take a shower with me?”
“Okay.” I smile as the need for a little more sleep evaporates in an instant.
It’s a wonderful way to wake up. Bram pulls me out of bed and into his arms. Our lips meet, and we kiss all the way to the bathroom where he starts the shower without taking his hands off me. Is this going to be the way we start every day? I definitely won’t complain if it is.
“Do you realize how beautiful you are?” Bram smiles and traces my arms once we are standing under the water.
“I just woke up—everything is a mess.” I look down and blush. “I think you’re being a little too generous.”
“No, I’m barely scraping the surface.” He pulls me close, and his lips find mine.
He does make me feel beautiful, and it’s completely different than how I felt when I was dancing on that stage. Those guys who leered and threw money at me didn’t make me feel beautiful. I was selling them a fantasy and nothing more. Bram makes it feel authentic.
With his words.
With his actions.
The desire is mutual rather than one-sided. He rescued me from that stage, and now I’m breathing new air. I finally get an actual breath of it when our lips part.
“Are you going to be a good girl today while I’m work today?” Bram traces my hips with his hands.
“I might be.” I look down, and my devilish grin is impossible to hide. “Or maybe not…”
SMACK! His hand catches me off-guard as he gives my ass a firm slap. It stings more than usual because of the water on my skin.
“Perhaps you need a little motivation this morning.” His hand slides to the other side of my ass. SMACK!
“I’m feeling more motivated already.” I let out a gasp and feel a tingle of excitement shoot through my body. “You don’t have to spank me, Daddy. I’ll be good.”
Bram’s lips graze against my skin, and he presses me to the back of the shower. The closeness has my body buzzing and my pussy dripping wet with more than just the water raining down on us. He enters me quickly, and I purr into his ear as he begins to thrust. It feels amazing. He feels amazing. We feel amazing.
Our bodies are perfectly tuned to our desires.
Is there anything better than this?
If there is, I’m not sure I can handle it, because this is a flood of emotions and a hurricane of bliss.
Chapter Eighteen
Bram
The wrongs in the world have been righted. Well, almost. Kiana is on my mind when I leave for work, and the taste of her kiss on my lips isn’t the only reason. I didn’t tell her the truth. I could have, but I didn’t want to ruin the moment. Should I have resisted those gorgeous curves when I got home last night? Maybe. I just let the weakness consume me until it gave way to something incredible.
I let Kiana call me Daddy after welcoming her father back to my company. I’m primed for the ultimate betrayal of Lawson’s trust. I’m coasting on embers that will turn into a raging inferno in an instant.
But nothing has changed.
I still choose her.
“Good morning, Mr. Ward.” Joanna’s smile greets me, and I nod as pick up my cup of coffee.
“How does my schedule look?” I glance at her computer and take a sip.
“Well, there’s one issue that you don’t have to deal with,” Dan interrupts us as he walks up from behind.
“Oh? What’s that?” I turn toward him with caution on my breath.
“Mr. Brooks got everything sorted out with Jack. One phone call and that rich…” Dan lowers his voice. “That rich prick is finally seeing things from our point of view. Now he might make some money instead of throwing it away.”
“Really?” I blink in surprise. “Wow, that’s really good news.”
Dan rambles on about how great it is to have the band back together, and there is a new energy in him that I haven’t seen since he was young and hungry. I haven’t even discussed Lawson’s salary with him, and he’s already turned one of our most troublesome accounts around.
I’m going to look like an asshole when this turns into a temporary arrangement, and he’s got both feet out the door—especially when everyone finds out why he’s gone.
It was a mistake to hire him. It was a mistake not to tell Kiana as soon as I had an opportunity to do so. What if they talk? It’s been a while, but it could happen. I’m sure he’ll mention that he’s returned to the company.
Why am I making this more difficult than it’s already going to be?
“Heads-up!” A voice startles me and I look up to see Lawson hurling a bag at me.
A bomb? Fuck, I dodged enough of these in the desert. What a way to go. I catch it out of instinct, and to my surprise, it doesn’t blow up in my face.
“What is this?” I look at him with a perplexed daze in my eyes.
“Damn, man. Did you already forget our tradition? Breakfast is on you tomorrow.” He chuckles and walks toward his office.
Our tradition. Fuck. We used to take turns buying each other breakfast. Things like that are easily forgotten, but he didn’t forget my favorite biscuit. Sausage, egg, and cheese. I don’t think I’ve even had one of these since that tradition ended the day he left the company.
It’s a small gesture on his part, but it makes me feel like shit when I finally get to my office. He’s trying to pick up exactly where we left off, and there’s a secret hanging in the air that is going to make that completely impossible.
I can’t even eat my biscuit. It feels wrong to enjoy it.
After a few minutes alone in my office, I remember that I didn’t get my schedule from Joanna. I got distracted by Dan and his news, then the
