“Even though it was his fault she got knocked over?” Dave asked. When Mary and Jessica looked over at him, he laughed. “I was joking. I know he didn’t do it on purpose. It was nice of him to help her up.”
It was. And Mary supposed it would be cute if they ended up together, but she wasn’t anywhere near thinking that far into the future yet. Jessica’s daughters were of marrying age, so it was no wonder Jessica’s thoughts had gone in the direction they had.
“We’re all very fortunate, aren’t we?” Jessica asked Mary and Dave. “We had another great year of harvest, and we get the opportunity to celebrate with family and friends.”
“We are fortunate,” Mary said. Then with a glance at Dave and her children, she couldn’t help but think the best was yet to come.
