Glossary

This book is set in a world many millennia in the future. Thus, languages have evolved and none of our words have survived. Here are the naming conventions used throughout the book:

Here are the most notable characters, animal names, geographic locations, and Kragdon-ah words:

Alex Hawk       -—       Former Special Forces member flung forward in time.

Dan Hadaller   -—       Fellow time traveler who was in Kragdon-ah before Alex

Denta-ah         -—       Tribe that used stama. Destroyed in A Door into Time.

Det                   -—       “Yes,” in the universal language of Kragdon-ah

Draka-ak           -—       Former chieftain of the Lasta-ah

Drana-eh  —- Oldest member of Winten-ah

Ganku-eh          -—       Once-chieftain of the Winten-ah.

Godat-ta           -—       Gigantic grizzly bear.

Gunta                -—       Greeting in the universal language of Kragdon-ah

Harta-ak           -—       Founder, with Versa-eh, of Danta-ah

Kel                      -—       “No,” in the universal language of Kragdon-ah

Kinta-eh  —- Daughter of Sekun-ak

Klipta-ak  —- Builder from Lasta-ah

Kragdon-ah      -—       The name of the entire world in the future.

Lanta-eh           -—       The Chosen One.

Lasta-ah           -—       Name of the home of Lanta-eh’s kidnappers.

Magda              -—       Someone who complains a lot.

Manta-ak          -—       Alex Hawk’s name in Kragdon-ah.

Matori-ah          -—       Island village where Alex fights the dandra-ta.

Monda-ak         -—       Gigantic dog. Loyal best friend to Alex Hawk.

Niten-eh           -—       Healer of the Winten-ah.

Prata-ah           -—       Hill where Lanta-eh’s small temple is built

Reggie               -—       Fellow time traveler who travels Kragdon-ah as a bard.

Rinka-ak           -—       Young chieftain of Rinta-ah.

Ronit-ta            -—       Dire wolves

Rinta-ah            -—       Village beside the Kranda-ah, ally of Winten-ah

Sanda-eh  —- Daughter of Alex and Senta-eh

Sekun-ak           -—       Chieftain of the Winten-ah. Close friend of Alex Hawk.

Senta-eh           -—       Bow fighter, companion to Alex Hawk

Stama                -—       Kragdon-ah word for technology.

Tinka-eh  —- Daughter of Reggie/Untrin-ak

Traka-ta            -—       Large pigeons.

Untrin-ak          -—       Kragdon-ah name for Reggie, another time traveler

Versa-eh           -—      Founder, with Harta ak, of Danta-ah

Wenta-eh        -—       Winten-ah warrior, sister of Werda-ak

Winten-ah         -—       Cliffside home and name of the tribe Alex first meets.

Zisla-ta  —- Huge floating spiders who arrive by the millions
