I shall pour your drinks. Congratulations, miss.” He shot me a grin, but it wasn’t as wide as the one currently splitting my face.

“Let’s see if it fits.” Max pulled the ring from the box. Shakily, I extended my left hand, and Max slid the band over my knuckle.

It fit perfectly.

Exactly like we did.

I stared at my fiancé. The word felt so alien to me, yet felt so right.

Max’s eyes shone with unshed tears of his own as he grasped my hand.

“Wait, Autumn knew all about this?” I pulled back a little, screwing my face up. “She knew you were planning to propose?”

“Soph, I’m good.” Max’s gaze fell to the rock on my left hand. “But I’m not that good.”

A deep laugh escaped from my lips. I couldn’t help but see the irony in the person—who had told us for years we couldn’t be together—had had a hand in choosing my engagement ring. “Should we tell her she’s been successful then?”

He pulled me towards him, clutching me close to his muscular chest. “I was hoping to keep this between us for a little longer, but…” As if on cue, his phone vibrated in his pocket. He pulled it out and turned the screen—Autumn. Damn, she was perceptive. Max pressed the accept button and put his sister on speaker.

“Well, how did it go?” Her voice floated into the air between us.

Tempting though it was to screw with her and pretend the proposal had failed, I couldn’t do it to her. Hell, I couldn’t do it to Max and me, even in jest. “How do you feel about being my maid of honor?”

A high-pitched squeal filled the air. “Eeek! Really? Omigosh, I’m so happy for both of you!”

My tone turned stern. “But how could you keep such a thing from me? You let me think Max was going to leave me.”

“I did no such thing. I simply didn’t tell you what he was planning.” She paused. “How could I, Soph? It would totally have ruined the surprise.”

In truth, I was glad she hadn’t told me and ruined what was potentially one of the happiest days of my life.

The happiest was yet to come—when I walked down the aisle and became Mrs. Sophie Coady.

I knew I wouldn’t be waiting another ten years for that day.

Love on the Rocks, by Kim Bailey

Holiday Springs, Book #3

Releasing November 6th 2020

Melina Morales is a good girl.

A hardworking, ambitious, follows-all-the-rules girl. Maybe that’s why her coworkers call her the ice queen. She might care if it weren’t for the looming pile of debt and her family’s dependence on her. But with her dream job on the line, she’s determined to succeed, no matter the sacrifice.

There’s just one tiny, six-foot-something problem. . .

Zane Wilder is a bad boy.

The Holiday Springs bartender is the guy everyone turns to for a good time—especially the women. Except lately he’s been unsatisfied. Maybe it’s got something to do with the drunken kiss he shared with Melina, but since he’s not interested in commitment, he figures there’ll never be a chance to find out.

When Melina agrees to one date in return for a favor, they both quickly realize there’s something between them. But it’s going to take Zane a lot more than his fun-loving ways and easy charm to convince the good girl to give him a serious shot.

This time, he’ll have to risk his heart.

Escape to the romantic paradise of Holiday Springs and warm up with your next happily ever after.
