“Shit, send the guy to West, he’ll take care of him. As for Rico, over my dead body. I’m outside, it’s probably best you prepare to leave.” The line goes dead.
I send the guy in West's direction telling him to explain exactly why, he doesn’t look close to tears anymore but he’s still shaking.
“I hope you don’t mind guys, but I think the party is about to be over. Want to head back to my room?” I ask.
Everyone nods in agreement. Parker doesn’t know what to do, he likely hasn’t disobeyed his father before, and I don’t want him to get caught in the middle of this.
“Roman, get Parker out of here first, he doesn’t need the backlash. Do you understand?” I’m not fucking around, and the determination is clear in my voice.
Parker tries to protest but whatever Roman says soothes him, and they head out just as Rafe steps in the room. I sigh deeply inside at his appearance. I stand as he approaches, and he wraps me in his arms.
“You look beautiful Luna, everything okay?”
“Yeah, there are bigger things going on here, but we need to address the fact that you own a suit. You’re lucky I recognized you,” I say with a chuckle, trying to lighten the mood.
He gives me a small chuckle, pacifying me.
“One of these days Luna, I’ll get to actually come down here to just see you, not because there is an emergency,” he says with a smile. “Now get yourselves out of here before it gets too crazy okay?”
He places a gentle kiss to my temple, but before he leaves, I have to ask.
“Rafe, does she know much about me?”
The understanding on his face is unmistakable, “West?”
“Yeah.”
“He say anything else?”
“Not very much because he said I wasn’t ready, but he said you broke rules to run with me,” I whisper, fidgeting with the buckle on my clutch.
His face softens.
“I can see the question you don’t want to ask in your eyes Luna, I would do it again and again to keep you safe.” He squeezes my shoulder in reassurance.
“As for your actual question, she was one of two people in the whole world who knew where we were the entire time. She loves you fiercely Luna, enough to keep away to save you.”
I nod, not sure how to process any of this really but I had to ask.
Kai puts his arm around my shoulder and guides us out of here, as Oscar does the same with Red. As we near the stairs I hear a smash, followed by screams and raised voices. I know it's Rafe, but Kai refuses to let me turn around and it’s probably for the best, because I would want to step in, but I know I’m helping by leaving. I just don’t actually understand how.
The night air greets us as we head for the limo.
I’m ready for that drink now, or two.
CHAPTER TWENTY-NINE
(Luna)
Pulling up outside of Ace, Red pulls me aside.
“Hey, I’m going to bow out, get my book boyfriend out and relax,” she says as she side hugs me.
“Are you sure? You don’t need to leave,” I explain.
If she wants, I’ll ban the guys and we can have girl time. As much as it weirds me out to admit that.
“No, honestly. I had fun tonight, getting dressed up and all that, but now I need some me time. Besides, I’m itching to finish this book.”
I nod, giving her a quick hug. Completely out of character, to be the one initiating the contact.
Kai offers her his arm to walk her back to her room. I love how they take care of her too, she’s important to me. I smile in thanks to Kai, and head inside with the others.
Stepping into the elevator Oscar whips a bottle of tequila and a bottle of bourbon from behind his back, wagging his eyebrows.
“Got us a little treat out of the limo, who’s ready for some fun?” he cheers.
I grin at his antics. I need to let my hair down a little, and I’m trusting them enough to do it around them.
Heading straight for the kitchen I look through the cupboards and find some glasses perfect for shots and shorts. I carry them back into the lounge where the guys have put an action movie on in the background, and rearranged the sofas so everyone’s closer.
We've done this a few times after classes, but it feels different tonight.
Hotter.
Part of me wants to change into something more comfortable, but the guys are still wearing their shirts and I like the idea of someone else getting me out of this thing, so on it stays.
A knock at the door has Oscar letting Kai in whilst I grab some snacks. When I step back into the lounge, they’re all staring at the door waiting for me. Want in everyone’s eyes.
Oscar breaks the tension.
“Baby girl come sit down we’re playing drinking games,” he says with a wink.
“Is that so?” I ask with a smirk, but it sounds like fun for a change.
He just nods at me while biting his lip, distracting me.
“Okay, what are we starting with?” Kai asks.
“Never have I ever, or truth or dare?” Oscar asks.
“Really?” Roman sighs.
“Yes really, Luna tell him,” Oscar pouts, “It’ll be fun. Watch. Luna, truth or dare?”
I just roll my eyes at him trying to force me into taking his side.
“Luna, truth or dare?” he repeats.
“Fine, truth.”
“Is it true you want to kiss me right now?” he grins all sexy at me, but I can’t help but rile him up a little.
I shake my head.
“I’ll take dare instead,” I respond, thinking I’m funny but he just widens his smile.
“Perfect, I dare you to come kiss me,” he purrs.
He looks to the others then returns his stare to me, beckoning me over, and I find
