and Dr. Stanton had been handling Jason’s care, keeping anyone from looking into the abuse. He is being held without bail right now for the murder of Jason Wells, drug trafficking and negligence. Jason’s stepmother has been arrested for child neglect, as well as, a list of drug charges. There is an APB out for Smythe and Wells. I had already discovered quite a bit of evidence, but again, your account will seal their fate.”

“That poor boy. Was there a funeral? I don’t even know how long I’ve been here.” Priscilla looks to each of us, with wide eyes.

“You have been out for about 5 days.”

Her trembling hand moves to her quivering lips. I rest my hip on the bed, carefully moving her so I can hold her and El in my arms. “It’s ok, sweetheart, let it out.” She breaks, sobbing for everything she can’t change.

“I’ll let you rest.” Bryan says to Priscilla, before turning to Judah. “I’ll let you know how things go, it’s such a shame we can’t find them, but we have every available resource looking into their whereabouts.” He finishes his statement looking between myself and Primo.

“We will walk you out, let Principessa have a chance to rest. Garrett, Eve and I will take Elead with us back to the clubhouse, if that is alright with you.” Primo says, I nod my thanks.

Once the door shuts behind them, I move about on the bed, kicking off my boots, getting comfortable. “Sleep b’shert, I’ll be here when you wake up.”

Priscilla 28.

Last night, my doctor came in to evaluate my progress, happy with how well I was coming along, he said I should be able to go home in a few days. The concussion was their biggest concern, but I seemed to be on the mend. I curled back up in Garrett’s big arms and fell back asleep.

Waking up today, my nurse helped me take a shower, keeping my arm dry and then replacing my bandages. I avoided looking at my face. I could feel how bad it probably looked. My nose was broken, everything was tender, even my gums hurt when I brushed my teeth, but the swelling was almost gone.

When I was with the nurse, Garrett went home for a few hours to see Elead and shower, he said he would be back with lunch. My stomach is growling, I declined a meal from the hospital, having eaten enough of it over the years, I wanted real, bad for you, comfort food.

Garrett walks in looking fresh, the circles I noticed under his eyes are lighter, and his smile warms my body. Almost as much as the heavenly scent of food wafting from the bags in his hands.

After placing a kiss to my forehead, he starts unpacking our lunch. “Hey sweetheart, how was the shower?”

“Orgasmic.” I sigh, remembering the feel of the hot water soothing my sore muscles. He raises an eyebrow at me when I open my eyes. I laugh, “Not literally orgasmic, but it was close, if the nurse was more my type…”

“Ha. Ha.” He moves the rolling tray closer to me and hands me a fork. I dive in to my creamy, truffle chicken pasta, moaning at the flavor bursting across my taste buds. “What is your type?” He asks, voice husky.

“Vigilante Business Owners.” He chokes on his laughter, “who are single father’s and wear a pair of jeans in a way that should be illegal.”

Garrett turns around wiggling his butt at me, winking at me over his shoulder. I like this playful side of him. It’s been so tense and serious, what with me fighting for my life and all, I’m glad he can smile and have fun.

“I happen to know a guy just like that.”

“I didn’t know that Reuben had a child.” I reply innocently, which earns me a growl and my food being taken away.

“No! I almost died…” I blink owlish eyes at him, fluttering my lashes for the full effect.

“Nope, none of that. I have already been warned about Aunt Mer’s influence and I’m not buying it for a second. Those eyes won’t work on me.”

I cross my arms over my chest, clumsily, thanks to my cast. “Fine. Give me my food back.” He starts to slide it back and I can’t help myself. “I’ve never really seen Reuben’s ass, now Asher on the other hand.”

“You’re not nice.” He moves the tray to the end of my bed while I pout. My stomach growls again making him hesitate in his movements, he feels bad.

“My liver is crying out for food, he lost part of himself and only creamy pasta with truffle oil will soothe the ache of loss he feels.”

“Good God, I thought Jews had cornered the market on guilt.” He rolls his eyes, giving me back my food.

“How’s my little man?” I ask around the pasta I just shoved in my mouth; I’m not wasting anytime in case my mouth gets me in further trouble.

Garrett gets this big goofy grin on his face. “He’s amazing. Really taking to being home. And your parents are great with him. I think…I think having him to take care of has helped them during your recovery. Something positive for them to focus on.”

I nod in agreement. “I can understand that. I don’t want to imagine what it would be like on the other side, having to watch you…nope, I’ll take the medically induced coma any day.”

“It hasn’t been easy. I…knew I loved you before…but to see you like that. To know that I might lose you, I have never known true fear until we found you.” He hangs his head, his shoulders shaking from the emotion. He looks up, meeting my eyes, his gaze determined and raging with desire. “I love you more than I could ever express. My day begins and ends with you and Elead. My family. My entire world wrapped in the drumming of your hearts.” He moves my food again, and
