face, then relaxing as he farts loudly. I have never thought flatulence was adorable…but that was pretty cute, even if I could feel it vibrate against my stomach.

“Damn, he’s so perfect.” Priss breathes out, I can hear the smile in her voice. “A boy after my own heart.”

Priscilla 7.

Sitting at the nurse’s station this morning, in a rare moment of quiet, I stifle the urge to jump on the desk and shout from the rooftop about my time with Garrett and Elead the night before. We sat together, talking about Manasseh, Garrett’s twin, Gage. To see his face flash between the joy of remembrance and the sadness that would momentarily seep through, broke my heart.

I can’t imagine losing my brothers, though we are years apart. Having a twin, someone I have literally shared a womb with…then he tells me that his dad died about 5 years ago from a heart attack, his mother following him a few months later. I just want to wrap both he and El in my arms and never let them go. Elead is truly all he has left of his biological family.

I only stayed for a little over an hour, I had to work again this morning and I didn’t want to intrude too much on his bonding time with Elead. Ok, so, that’s not a lie, but I also couldn’t sit in his lap anymore while his shirt was off and him radiating heat and pheromones and father of the year vibes without embarrassing myself…again.

Garrett said he was only staying for a bit longer, then would return this morning. I have purposely avoided their pod, making sure to get my actual work done and focus on my patients. I can fraternize and cuddle on my own time. I’m an adult…I hate being an adult.

Elead’s night nurse, Taylor, interrupts my thoughts, as she sashays back into the NICU. “I thought you went home already, your shift ended like two hours ago.”

She rolls her eyes, and it’s then that I notice she has blown out her hair into long white blond waves, her face is made up like she’s going out to a club, and her clothes leave very little to the imagination, her pants making it clear she is not a fan of underwear. Nope, no granny panties or period underwear for this chick.

“I had to get ready, I have a sexy single father biker to seduce.”

I push back the bile urging its way up my throat and give her a fake smile and an enthusiastic thumbs up. I have no doubt she will crash and burn with Garrett, but it will be fun to watch. And if I judged him wrong, it’s better to know now. Though, I feel confident.

“Go get ‘em, tiger!”

“Rawr!” Her tiger impression leaves a lot to be desired. “Tomorrow he may be sporting some stripes down his back, if you know what I mean.” She winks at me, turning towards the pod, missing my own eye roll. Taylor is a decent nurse, but never shy about her sexuality.

“B’shert?” I hear called from a few feet away. Looking up I meet Garrett’s dark eyes and tiny smirk. I’m guessing he heard what just transpired.

“Hey, Garrett.” Taylor purrs. “I was just coming to find you. I thought maybe we could spend the day together.” She sashays her womanly hips, approaching him with her hand extended to his chest. I watch in slow-motion, cursing myself for not recording this, as he side-steps her advance and comes behind the desk to give me a kiss against my forehead.

“Thank you for the kind offer, nurse…” I lower my head to hide my grin, I feel kind of bad for her.

“Garrett, this is Taylor. Taylor, you know—”

“her boyfriend.” Garrett interrupts me, wrapping an arm around my shoulder, bringing my head to rest against sculpted abs hidden beneath his t-shirt. I am developing a love/hate relationship with all his clothing.

“But.” Taylor’s eyes widen at his declaration, then they narrow, and a shallow smile turns her lips. “Oh honey, I didn’t know Garrett was your boyfriend. How hard it must be for you to be around the baby he had with another woman.” This right here is why she is only a decent nurse. Read a fucking chart!

“Taylor, so glad you are still here. Let’s walk to my office.” Abby surprises all of us, coming around the corner. “We can discuss appropriate interactions between the nursing staff and our patient’s parents, and also the importance of reviewing all pertinent medical information regarding your patients, including their familial situation.”

“What about Priscilla! He just said he was her boyfriend.” She screeches, ignorant of the parents and other staff.

“Yes, and she came to me immediately and asked to be removed from Elead’s nurse rotation, notifying me of their relationship. As did Mr. Havlin. Now, let’s finish this conversation in my office, away from parents bonding with their sick children.”

Before Garrett and I can even speak, the buzzer on the NICU door sounds, I look at the camera and notice a rather large man wearing a similar vest to Garrett waiting to be let in.

“That’s Judah, my president.” Garrett nods toward the screen.

I unlock the door, standing up behind the desk, as Garrett greets Judah.

“Prez, thanks for coming.” They shake hands and do a manly back slap. I shift on my feet nervous to be meeting someone of importance in his life. We haven’t had a chance to discuss too much about his motorcycle club, other than he is in one and the names of his “brothers”.

“Can’t wait to meet our boy. Sorry, I haven’t been here sooner, a few things came up.” He eyes me warily, before returning his gaze to Garrett.

“Anything I need to know?” Suddenly Garrett’s demeanor shifts, and he is all business.

“Nothing that won’t keep.” Judah squeezes his shoulder. “Now, where’s our boy?”

“First, I want you to meet, Priscilla.” Garrett turns to include me in the conversation. He grasps my hand
