You are so full of shit that no wonder your eyes are brown. No, I have not grown soft in my old age. No, I’m not too preoccupied by “that Finnish chick” to take care of my own land. I said, I’ll take care of it.
Miguel’s laugh is light, amused. “No need to tap me when I’m standing ten feet away. And excuse me for being worried. But since when has it been okay by you to have freeloaders on the premises?”
A shrug is the only answer Miguel gets. Bill digs around in the pocket of his robe. He lights a hand-rolled cigarette, crosses his arms against the railing, and says, “And if you think I’m old, fuck you and the horse you rode in on.”

About the Author
Taya is a Finnish-American author, writing contemporary fiction and dystopian sci-fi. After living and traveling in America for seven years, she now lives in Finland with her husband Chris, their dog Seamus, three bunny-boys (Ronin, Baby, Loki), and her horse of a lifetime, Arabella.

Final Thanks
Writing this series is the best high. Getting to know my characters has sucked me into this universe, surprising me (and sometimes freaking me out), time and time again. Some nights I forget to go to bed. Some days I realize I haven’t had anything to eat since my morning bowl of cereal-granola. The story takes a life of its own while I sleep, often waking me up in the middle of the night, forcing me to fill my phone’s notebook with restless gibberish.
I want to thank my partner-in-everything Chris, for being my rock. Thank you for keeping me caffeinated. Thank you for your unwavering support, and for giving these books your hundred and ten percent.
