well as a weapon of some sort. He had locks on every drawer in the kitchen. There were no weapons anywhere. He made sure of it.

So, all I could do was bide my time until an opportunity arose.

Havoc

I was sloppy with Stephanie, the new prey that was in the trunk. She almost got away. My mind was at home. I didn’t do any background either. From now on, I wanted no contact from anyone else.

What I’m doing with Marseille, keeping her as mine, wasn’t allowed. It had to be put to a vote. Except I wanted to keep her to myself.

Opening my trunk, I heard the front door open. She always stood on the porch when I came home. I think secretly she hopes it is someone coming to spring her out of here, but I like to pretend she is just happy to see me.

I don’t look at her because I need to focus on the task at hand. Pulling the girl out of the trunk, I stand her up. Taking the bag off of her head, she starts screaming. She receives the resounding slap she so desperately needs.

Standing in shock listening to me as I explain her situation, she can leave free and clear if she makes it to the road, then I give her her fifteen-minute head start.

Finally looking at the woman looking at me on the porch with her mouth hanging open, she said, “Don’t you get enough sex from me?”

“Sex?”

She looked confused. “Why are you chasing her when you have me now?”

Ah. She is jealous. Interesting. “I have no intention of fucking her. She is my prey. This will be our supply of meat for the next couple of weeks.”

Marseille blanched at my words. “You are joking.”

“No.” I replied. Walking towards the path where Stephanie headed, I could hear Marseille gagging.

Marseille

Oh, dear lord. Please tell me we haven’t been eating human flesh. But in my heart, I already knew it was true. It made sense. A lot of the stuff he had said pointed to this.

How had I missed this? He was going to eat me if I hadn’t given in and said I would stay.

The creaking door alerted me to his arrival back. He was alone. Maybe she got away. That made me hopeful.

“Did she make it to the road?”

He laughed. “No one makes it to the road. It isn’t possible.”

I sat there stunned. I don’t know why that surprised me. Of course, he would have a contingency plan.

“I won’t eat anymore meat.”

He looked at me calmly, walked over, jerked my face up, “You will eat every damn bite I give you or I will shove it down your throat while you live in the box. Understand?”

He looked so evil, so scary, all I could do was nod.

Havoc

She really pissed me off sometimes. I provided for her and she thought she was too good to eat it?

She would nourish my child, and she would eat everything on her plate. I don’t want to hurt her, but if she keeps pushing me, I won’t hesitate to remind her who was in control.

I could hear her retching in the bathroom. Seriously, this shit is getting old. She had thrown up seven times. This was ridiculous. She wasn’t vomiting when she was inhaling all of her food.

Storming into the bathroom, I glared at her tear-stained face. “What the fuck is wrong with you?”

She looked weak. Her lips were white, and she was shaking. “I haven’t started my period. I’m never late.”

I was getting agitated. “So? Because you haven’t gotten your period it is making you barf everywhere?”

She looked at me like I grew a third head. “No. I’m saying, I think I’m pregnant.” She turned her head around and started dry heaving.

I was in shock. That quick? Holy shit. That was exhilarating. I couldn’t stop smiling. Until I saw her glare.

She said, “I’m glad you are so excited at my misery. Before you get giddy, you may want to buy a pregnancy test. Also, some ginger tabs would be nice and tea bags.”

I was already headed out the door. This was the best news I had ever heard.

Chapter Nine

Havoc

I think I broke every speed record on the way to grab what she needed. Not because I was worried about her symptoms, because really, anything she had to go through for my spawn, she should feel privileged. But I was concerned about the stress on the fetus.

I walked into the pharmacy and asked the female pharmacist what all I could get her for nausea. I had multiple bags when I walked back into the cabin. She was lying down with a wash cloth on her face.

She pulled it off of her face and sat up. I handed her the two tests. “The pharmacists said to buy two. She said to take one now, if it came back negative then take the second one in the morning, sometimes that is the strongest one.”

She nodded, getting up weakly.

Marseille

I already knew. I was never late a day in my life. Unless it was the stress, but I wasn’t that ignorant to think that was the cause.

Peeing on the stick, I sat on the toilet, not moving after putting the stick on the sink. He was waiting in the hall giving me a pensive look.

He owned me now. I couldn’t leave if I was pregnant. How would I raise a child on my own?

“Double lines mean positive?” he asked.

I nodded yes. He walked away whistling, I didn’t even need to look at it.

I got up, made some weak tea, then laid down and cried myself to sleep.

Havoc

She needed to be happy that she was with my child. I didn’t want to punish her, but I would.

I knew it was going to be a son, I could feel it. Which pleased me to no end. He could carry on the family name.

I heard her in the kitchen so I walked in behind
