them that I´m all right,” Freya said and nibbled at his lower lip.

“Like I said, we will go down to the river behind the castle and it will be enough.” He pressed her up against him, his eyes consuming her when she wiggled on his erection but then she drew back a little and he growled.

“Please,” Freya pleaded. He seemed to hesitate but then he said:

“Perhaps I should let you see them, allow you to tell them a proper good bye.”

“Thank you,” Freya whispered. “I won´t escape, I promise.”

“You don´t have to promise me anything. I´ll make sure that you don´t.”

Chapter Eleven

“Wolf, it´s not really necessary,” Freya said when he pushed one of the thickest sweaters he had been able to find over her head. Freya touched the material and shuddered. Wool... it basically swallowed her whole, which was probably exactly what he wanted.

“I decide what´s necessary,” Wolf said and tried to pull a hat down on her head. “You are not wearing that transparent gauze outside of Ice Falls.” He smoothed down her hair. “That transparent gauze is for my eyes only.”

“But these clothes are so itchy,” Freya protested. “I like soft fabrics, that allow my skin to breathe, you know?” She glanced at his armor. “Or, …maybe you don´t know.”

“This is only temporary. Later, I will get you gowns to wear and a cro…”

He stopped himself, catching Freya´s curiosity.

“And a what? What will I be dressed in? A crow? Is that what you were trying to say?”

“No, that´s not what I was trying to say.”

“Good, because wearing birds was fashionable decades ago and honestly it was a dreadful trend.”

Freya snickered, but Wolf scowled. And then his expression changed and for a second she thought he looked at her with both wonder and almost like he was… aching. Because of her? Interesting. No man had ever ached for her. Not even Phi…

“What are you thinking about?” Wolf suddenly asked, perceptive as always and Freya jerked.

“Nobody,” she stuttered and his eyes narrowed. “I mean nothing, just that I´m looking forward to bathing.”

“That better be what you were thinking about,” she thought she heard Wolf murmur. “Now put your arms around my neck.”

Obediently, Freya did as he asked and closed her eyes and surprisingly enough, there was no dizziness this time.

“I´m starting to get used to this,” Freya said after Wolf had transported them back to her home.

“To what?” Wolf asked with a raised brow. “To the transportation or to me?”

Freya looked down.

“Both, I guess,” she murmured in sincerity. She didn´t know if her answer pleased Wolf or not but he took her hand and clutched it, as if it did.

A purple sheen from the twilight covered the valley making the river look warmer, almost light pink and down from the mountains, a balmy summer wind was circling. The other god´s were already in full swing drowning a couple of poor mortals, when they noticed them coming.

“It´s the Frost Bringer again,” Dasha said wide eyed. “Quick. Hide!” She was just about to dive when Cass stopped her.

“Wait, he has Freya with him.”

“Hey, stranger,” Armmie shouted while holding her face out of reach as a man with several rings on his hands tried to scratch her. “Long time no see.”

It had only been a little more than two days. But then again god´s had a poor concept of time, as did most immortals.

“Is that a slaughtered sheep you´re wearing?” Dasha said and Freya threw an accusatory glance at Wolf, who seemed amused.

“This is coming off,” she muttered and Wolf shook his head but she decided to ignore him. Before he could stop her, she was already naked and she lifted an eyebrow, daring him to say anything. To say that he was displeased was an understatement, and his hands shot out automatically to grab her but she jumped out of the way.

“You and I have a score to settle,” he warned her between pressed lips and his eyes were full of longing.

“Sounds stimulating,” Freya purred and he growled angrily.

“If those mortals even bat an eye at you…”

“They´re busy fighting for their lives, in case you haven´t noticed,” Freya said but then her eyes grew hooded. “And besides, there are benefits to allowing me to go into the river like this.”

Wolf bit out a curse but she only smiled.

Freya immersed herself in the water down to her waist and reached for his hand. She had planned on guiding him but his fingers were inside of her in an instant and she let out a soft gasp. The water was making her even more slippery and Wolf looked like he was going livid. His long fingers curved, fondling and stroking her, trying to get Freya to come to him again. Freya stifled a whimper, being dangerously close to an orgasm but just then she jumped out of his reach, leaving him breathing harshly.

“Freya,” he warned her in a hoarse voice. “When I get my hands on you...”

“Is that supposed to be another warning?” she breathed. “Because I can´t wait to get your hands on me.” She stroked her breast, going lower and then stopped.

He grinned wickedly and this time Freya didn´t feel her heart flutter but it boomed. This was a dangerous game that she was playing… Maybe she just wasn´t as in love with Philip as she had thought? Confused with her own emotions Freya turned to the other god´s who had been too busy with the mortals to notice anything that had been going on between her and Wolf.

“Freya, you forgot to tell us why you´re here?” Cass asked, crossing her arms after she had executed her victim.

“I needed the water,” Freya frowned.

“Is there no water in Ice Falls?” Dasha asked and Freya was a little hurt.

“There is but I wanted to come here. Aren´t you happy to see me, to know that I´m all right?”

Dasha shrugged.

“I guess.”

Wolf seemed perplexed by their exchange but then his eyes sharpened, when Freya got further into the river. So quickly that Freya
