the condom he’d stashed earlier. Samantha was a smiling weak version of her normal self. “You with me, Brooks?” he asked in a teasing voice.

She watched avidly as he ripped open the condom wrapper and sheathed himself.

“Are you kidding? I’ve dreamt of this, when I’ve been in that darned guest room.” Samantha admitted.

“I fantasized about it after the first time I met you. I haven’t been able to get you out of my head for months. Now I know why.”

She frowned. “Why?”

“You’re the stuff dreams are made of.” His big hand spread across her belly, his fingers splaying up to her sternum, while his lower body made a place for himself between her legs and she welcomed him like he’d always belonged there.

He pressed into the tight depths of Samantha’s warm welcoming body and felt like he was coming home. He watched every expression that crossed her face, making sure she was okay with what he was doing.

“Ezio, quit worrying,” she said as her legs came up to wrap around his waist. “This feels wonderful.”

It was like she’d said the magic words. It allowed him to sink even deeper and didn’t that feel like heaven? She tightened around him, the pleasure unimaginable. “Again, Samantha, do that again.”

“Start moving and I will,” she purred.

He huffed out a laugh. She was going to be his match in every way. That was such a high.

Ezio pressed in even deeper, searching for that spot that would bring her even more pleasure. He pulled out and pressed in higher, rasping against the top of her sheath. He heard her gasp of shock.

“What are you doing?” Her voice trembled.

“Did you like that?”

“Do it a few more times, and I’ll tell you,” she squeaked out as he pushed back in over that magical spot within her body. Each time he hit that spot, she squeezed him so hard, he thought he might explode. His heart was racing and he wanted to do more—touch her breasts, kiss her neck—but all he could do was look into her deep blue eyes dazed with passion, and listen to all of the needy sounds pouring from her.

“Please, Ezio. No more. It’s too much.”

He paused for a second.

“Don’t stop.” Her nails scored down his back. “Don’t you dare stop,” she said fiercely.

Thank fuck.

He plunged into the snug depths of her body again and her voice broke over his name, again and again.

“Ezio,” she wailed. It was the most beautiful sound he’d ever heard.

It sent him careening over the same cliff into ecstasy, into a universe filled with light, life, and Samantha. Into the arms of the woman, he would never give up, never leave, never stop loving.

Sam thought she heard a buzzing, but she could be hallucinating after the last three nights she’d just spent in Ezio’s arms. Ezio rolled over in bed and grabbed his phone from the nightstand and looked at the screen in the dim light. He texted something back. Then hauled her close to him.

“Sorry, Honey, gotta go.”

“This early? It’s not even light out.” Her stomach clenched. Was it one of the missions that Eden had warned her about?

“We’re doing a training exercise. Max thinks it would be fun to get a jump a day early on my old team.” He leaned in and kissed her long and soft.

“Training?”

“War games. Night Storm versus Omega Sky. Max has some tricks up his sleeve, Baron better be ready,” Ezio chuckled. “This ought to be fun.”

“You have time for breakfast?”

“I even have time for a shower.” He ran his hand along her back, resting it on her ass for a warm squeeze. “I wish we had time for more games of our own,” he sighed.

“Go get your shower, and I’ll make you your smoothie and eggs.”

She got out of bed and pulled on last night’s discarded T-shirt.

Dang, I really wanted to spend today in bed.

“Nobody said you had to put on clothes,” Ezio said as he got off the bed and perused her. She looked at his naked body and enjoyed the view.

“Quit saying nice things and go take your shower,” she admonished. She hightailed it to the kitchen before she thought about jumping him. She really, really, really wanted a repeat of last night’s performance.

But which one? They were all so spectacular.

She made it down to the kitchen and had the blender primed and the eggs going by the time Ezio was down and dressed in his fatigues. “Is a paintball gun involved?” she asked, tongue in cheek.

“If that’s what you need to believe,” he answered with a laugh.

“But nobody’s going to get hurt, right?”

“Not unless somebody is extremely stupid, and that is not a description I would use for a member of either team. What’s more, there are a hell of a lot of safety redundancies in place to make sure no accidents happen.” He picked up his smoothie glass and took a long swallow. “Yours tastes better than mine, what do you put in it?”

“I’m not telling. How will you tell who wins?”

“Whoever captures the other team’s territory, which will be Night Storm.” He started eating his cheesy eggs. She could tell he liked those too. “You do something different with these too, what is it?”

“A girl can’t give away all her secrets. If you’re starting a day early, that means you’re going to be gone at least two days, right?”

He nodded as he wiped his mouth with a paper towel. “I wanted to talk to you about that. I’m picking up Leo today, his truck’s in the shop. He’s got a lot of gear, otherwise I’d take your car and have you take the Jeep.”

“Huh?”

“Honey, remember, I’ve been driving you to work for
